Freddie Flintoff is believed to be preparing to make a triumphant return to screens.

The former cricketer and telly presenter has taken a hiatus from all on-screen work in recent years having suffered a devastating crash which could have cost him his life. But recent snaps show Freddie's injuries appear to be healing, seven months after the 46-year-old was last seen in public.

It's claimed that Preston-born Freddie negotiated a deal with the BBC worth around £9 million to make up for two years' loss of earnings following the near-fatal accident which left him with "life-altering significant" injuries. But now, it's claimed that Freddie is looking towards the future and his latest ventures.

"This will be a huge comfort to his fans because it shows he's healing well and returning to two of his greatest passions — sport and television," a source told The Sun. The insider went on to add: "It's obvious that there is some scarring, which everyone expected, but Freddie looks to have made huge progress since he was last seen in public playing cricket. He's clearly comfortable enough to get in front of a camera again — something which was not the case this time last year.

"They're nervous first steps, as he's recovering both mentally and physically, but the TV show he's making is a real passion project for him." It's believed that Freddie is filming the second series of the BBC reality show, Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams. While the first series followed Freddie return to the city of Preston to recruit youngsters and introduce them to cricket the second series will see them head out to India.

The first season was released back in July 2022 and the long-awaited second season has been delayed by the star's injuries. A source previously told The Sun on Sunday: "Freddie and staff have been quietly working on it since last month (December). It's a show he feels passionate about and he’s excited to be returning to the grassroots of the sport.

"It will be his first major TV project in two years. Filming will start in a few months, when it's warmer outside, and will take place in the north of England. A lot of the same production team will be involved in this series so Freddie will feel comfortable ahead of his big telly return."

Freddie has been largely out of the public eye since his crash in December 2022. He filming scenes for Top Gear when the open-topped three-wheel Morgan Super 3 car he was driving flipped over. He was airlifted to hospital following the incident and suffered serious injuries - including broken bones and injury to his face. Reports emerged to suggest the star almost died in the accident and Top Gear was subsequently shelved by the BBC.
