Greg Rutherford's fiancée makes X-rated comment about his Dancing on Ice injury
Greg Rutherford's fiancée Susie Verrill has made a very cheeky comment about the reason he had to pull out of Dancing on Ice.
The Olympic athlete was forced to miss last weekend’s final hours before he and pro partner Vanessa James were due to take to the ice after suffering an agonising injury during rehearsals.
Though he hasn’t revealed the exact details of the freak injury, we know the 37-year-old has received hospital treatment for it and just yesterday took to his Instagram stories to tell fans he was “off to see a man about a scalpel”, suggesting he was potentially having surgery, and promised to “give a full rundown tomorrow”.
As Greg’s fans kept asking, “what exactly happened?”, his long-term partner Susie – who is mum to his three kids Milo, eight, Rex, five, and two-year-old Daphne – cut in with an X-rated joke and said: “I’ll tell you. His p***s snapped off.” Reposting her comment on his stories, Greg refused to confirm or deny and instead replied with confused face emojis.
Giving fans an update, Greg said: “Good morning everyone. Just thought I’d give you a little update. I’m moving around a little bit better today, which is nice. Loads of people are asking exactly what happened. I will be able to give a full rundown tomorrow. I’m seeing a specialist to figure out a plan of action and everything else.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tour“But my stomach is not in a good way and it’s going to need fixing. So that is what is going to be happening, but I’ll give you a full rundown of everything when I know exactly what is happening. I’m trying not to take too much of the co-codamol I’ve been given because it makes me sleepy, but my stomach is not in a good way.”
Dancing on Ice was thrown into chaos Sunday night when Greg’s skating partner Vanessa announced the news he was sadly injured hours before they were due to perform in the finals. Taking to Instagram to share a photo of him in an ambulance, she penned: "Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won’t be able to perform tonight. We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs."
Greg later shared a snippet of the incredible performance he would have made alongside Vanessa if they had made it to the final. Posting a video of their Bolero routine on Instagram, Greg admitted he was “devastated” to have missed the opportunity to perform it live - but hopes that he and Vanessa will one day be able to recreate the dance routine again.
"Something that I really wish I could have performed… . I'm almost 36 hours since the injury and watching the videos of what could have been. It’s bloody hard to take at this point as I know we could have shown something exciting and new with our final performances. I’m really proud of what we achieved on the show. This take was from Saturday morning and we were marking for the double twist… the full program was truly beautiful. I’m a bit heartbroken at the moment. Do you think me and Vanessa should get together again and perform it live one day?" he asked his 192,000 followers.
Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas went on to win the final after beating radio DJ Adele Roberts and Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazire – and in an emotional speech dedicated his trophy to pal Greg. He said: "I'm speechless! I just can't ... it's Amani [his pro partner] - I'm happy for her because she's put so much hard work in with me. And listen, Greg, if you're watching this at home... this trophy is for you, mate!"
