North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, has issued a stark warning to his enemies as he displays his skill by driving what is claimed to be 'the world's strongest tank'.

With his head peeking up from an open driver's seat, the leader steered the heavy-duty machine around a track, watched by his adoring soldiers and officers. After completing his stint at the wheel, Kim climbed down to pose for a photograph with his comrades next to a flag bearing a communist emblem.

For the display, Kim switched his usual Chairman Mao-inspired suit for a more relaxed outfit, a leather jacket, and a tank operator's leather helmet complete with ear protectors. North Korea's Central News Agency reported that Kim referred to the vehicle as "the world's most powerful tank" and urged his troops to ramp up their "fighting spirits" and finish making "preparations for war".

However, it remains unclear just who the North Korea leader is requesting his soldiers to brace for conflict against, reports the Express. Notably, this occasion marks the third time that Kim has overseen military exercises in his nation since the commencement of an 11-day drill between South Korea and the US, which he allegedly sees as practice for an attack.

Before this latest tank driving event, Kim had attended two recent drills focused on artillery firing and manoeuvring routines. The tank was first shown off in a military parade in 2020, and its use during Wednesday's drill suggests it's ready to be used, say experts from South Korea.

Pictures of the tank shared by North Korea reveal it has a launch tube for missiles, a weapons system that the former Soviet Union had back in the 1970s. The new tank could be a danger to South Korea, warned Yang Uk, an analyst at Asan Institute for Policy Studies, but it remains to been if it can be made in large numbers.
