CBB housemates scream over huge news as Marisha Wallace breaks down in tears

The Celebrity Big Brother house erupted in cheers as well as tears as Marisha Wallace received some huge personal news.

While in the infamous house, contestants are supposed to be completely cut off from the outside world. This week, 38-year-old American actress Marisha was nominated for an Olivier Award for her recent work in West End smash Guys & Dolls and she’s included in the Best Actress in a Musical category.

By the strict rules of the Big Brother house, Marisha should have been kept in the dark about the nomination - but during an afternoon of fairground events, Marisha learned the truth. She was invited by Big Brother to take a prediction from a fortune telling machine.

Opening the fortune bubble, Marisha read a note. Reading it out loud, the note explained: “There are exciting things ahead. On Sunday the 14th of April, you will be sitting at the Olivier Awards as a nominee for best Actress in a Musical for Guys & Dolls.” The housemates screamed with excitement over the news.

As they rushed around Marisha, she broke down in tears and exclaimed: “Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god!” Viewers watching the scenes flooded social media with comments about how touching the moment was. One wrote on X: “Omg that was so wholesome ... #CBBUK.” Another typed: “marisha finding out she’s nominated for an olivier is so wholesome omg ... the way she gasped and burst into tears and everyone jumped on her, it’s what she deserves #cbbuk.”

Another fan wrote that they were mildly annoyed to see Big Brother rules freely broken, typing: “Kinda didn’t want them to tell her yet, but at the same time the way they did is cool. #cbbuk.” But another typed: “I’m glad they told Marisha #CBBUK.”

Soon after discovering her nomination, Marisha had to nominate which housemates she wanted to send up for eviction - in front of all the other housemates. Love Island star Ekin-Su was one of the people she nominated and the reality star exploded with anger about it. This reaction caused Marisha to later cry and confess she felt awful for nominating her friend.

Speaking in the diary room, the stage star admitted: “I got Olivier nominated. Yeay! Yeay! Yeay.” But through tears of sadness, she added: “I feel horrible. This is supposed to be the best fay of my life, and I feel horrible. I just want to go home. I’ve only known these people for a week and a half. I just want them to be ok. I want to be ok.”

On Tuesday, the Olivier Awards 2024 with Mastercard announced their line-up of nominations. The awards are considered one of the most prestigious theatre awards in the world and attracts the top performers in the UK.

Marisha will compete for the top award in the musical category alongside fellow American star Nicole Scherzinger, 45, for her barnstorming performance in Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre. Natasha Hodgson for her role in Operation Mincemeat at the Fortune Theatre and Caissie Levy for her role in Next To Normal at the Donmar Warehouse are the other two nominees.

Celebrity Big Brother airs via ITV1 and ITVX nightly at 9pm.
