Conor McGregor has admitted that he was not looking forward to his mum seeing an X-rated scene as he makes his Hollywood debut in a movie alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

The UFC legend may be more used to matters in the octagon but his maiden performance on the big screen in Amazon Prime's 'Road House' has earned him plaudits. Showing a talent in front of the camera, the Irishman plays an indomitable adversary to Gyllenhaal's character in a remake of the Patrick Swayze movie of the same name from 1989.

His nemesis in the film is a former MMA star who has since become a bouncer working at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys - with McGregor playing enemy Knox. In one scene, which was unveiled ahead of the March 21 release, the man known as 'The Notorious' is shown engaged in an ugly bar brawl with his on-screen antagonist.

Now, the ex-UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, has reflected on his movie debut, admitting there are some scenes he hopes his family will not see. Speaking to the Sun US, he even joked that his five children would never be permitted to watch the film, saying: "Obviously, they can't watch and never will, to be honest. I'm nervous about my mother seeing it."

As for his mother, who accompanied him to the world premiere at South by Southwest on March 8, he admitted he was a little worried about her seeing one particular scene. Baring his backside at one point in the film, he confessed he has been worried about his loved ones seeing that moment, saying: I have my mother coming in for the premiere tomorrow and she has no idea! I'm a bit nervous about it but excited.

The UFC superstar has not had a fight since his technical knockout loss versus Dustin Poirier back in 2021 - when he succumbed to a broken tibia during the bout. He filmed this movie during his long lay-off with injury and acknowledged that he enjoyed the process, saying: "I had a great crew of people with me, a great cast and they were very patient with me."

Speaking of a fight scene between him and opposite man Gyllenhaal, he continued: He had a multitude of stunt guys and they got f***ed up, they actually got f***ed up and they wanted me to f*** them up. There was like spinning back kicks to the ribs and the director was like, 'No go again!' I was like, the guy's on the f***ing floor here! But it was a great experience."

Later, he also addressed the advice he has received from another athlete-turned-actor in the form of Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. Having struck up a friendship with the former bodybuilder, the Austrian silver screen star was on hand with some words of wisdom for McGregor as he prepared for his film debut.

Explaining how their paths first crossed, the Dubliner detailed to Backstage.: "Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s a good friend of mine, his lady Heather is my physical therapist, [she] has helped me throughout my career, helped me from my world title from 2013 on, I became real close with Arnold."

“Arnold’s first debut into the movie game was very similar. Boom, lands down, solid as a rock. If Arnie done it, and f****** look at his career, I said maybe I’m onto something. I just rocked with it, and I channelled the inner Arnie, the inner Terminator there and just rocked on.”
