Corrie's Daniel's 'lie' about missing Lauren 'exposed' after murder twist
Coronation Street viewers saw Daniel Osbourne accused of lying about his relationship with a missing teen in the latest episode.
His claims about a missed tutorial session with Lauren Bolton just before she vanished were called out by her friend Max Turner on the ITV soap, as he suggested he was lying. He also claimed Daniel was the mystery boyfriend harassing Lauren in the lead-up to her going missing.
Months ago, Daniel offered to help tutor Lauren, 18, as she wanted to get a GSCE in English. There was one tutor session in February where Daniel revealed Lauren did not attend, with them never getting around to rescheduling.
Max said that Lauren had told him she had a session with Daniel on Monday February 19, and she seemed a bit "edgy" about it. But when he asked Daniel about it, Daniel claimed it never went ahead - with Max adding he thought his friend looked a bit dressed up to be going to a tutor meeting.
As Daniel told Max and others that he remembered it wasn't even the 19th they were meant to be meeting, as he remembered he had the day off from work, Max didn't buy his story. He repeated what Lauren had told him with Daniel calling her a liar, but Max instead went to the police to effectively report Daniel.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesHe told DS Swain that Lauren had claimed she was seeing Daniel on the 19th before she went missing, and that Daniel was denying they saw each other. He suggested Daniel was lying about what he knew, and that he was probably the mystery ex of Lauren who was harassing her, and possibly being violent towards her too.
When Swain spoke to Daniel, she suggested he was offering her tutoring for sex after he revealed Lauren did not give him money for the sessions. Daniel was horrified and denied any relationship between them, saying he just wanted to help her.
It comes amid speculation Lauren is dead after possibly being murdered. DS Swain confirmed in a radio interview that all clues pointed towards her being killed by a mystery person.
It was claimed that forensic evidence found at her flat was consistent with a violent assault. While they remained open-minded as to who or what led to Lauren going missing, they were keen to find out who was responsible as it was revealed detectives were now treating her disappearance as a possible murder inquiry.
Her loved ones and others tuning into the radio broadcast were shocked and saddened by the news, while her tutor Daniel was panicked after being questioned by Swain. It followed bloodstains being found at Lauren's flat just a day after Roy Cropper had cleaned the place up.
