Gwyneth Paltrow confessed she was “so upset” when Kourtney Kardashian’s wellness brand was dubbed a “rip off” of the Oscar winner’s Goop firm.

The 51-year-old actress launched Goop back in 2008, and the now-hugely successful lifestyle brand, that boasts a chic clothing line, skincare, and candles, initially started as a weekly email penned by Gwyneth herself. Now, it has evolved into a massive wellness empire, and the actress has focused her attention on expanding Goop over the last few years, and is now worth more than £195 million ($250 million).

Kourtney launched her Poosh brand in 2019, and her wellness platform was immediately compared to Gwyneth’s empire, with many dubbing the reality TV star’s firm as a “rip off” of Goop. “I was so upset when Poosh was launched and people were like, ‘This is a rip-off of Goop,'” the mother-of-two told People. “I was like, ‘This is so awful, and trying to pit us against one another, which is so crazy.'”

She said the world is “better and stronger” when women are “in cahoots” rather than being in competition with each other, and said the “patriarchy” was to blame. “I feel like the patriarchy does this thing to us where they make us feel scarcity and that there’s not enough for all of us to do our thing. And it’s so detrimental,” Gwyneth fumed.

She was inspired to collaborate with Kourtney on a candle in 2022, called This Smells Like My Pooshy, after the launch of her hugely successful Goop candle titled This Smells Like My Vagina. “I thought it was hilarious,” she laughed. Gwyneth said it was important for other wellness brands to co-exist together, rather than compete with each other, as what they were doing for people was much more important. “I feel like we just stay really true to ourselves and then we just keep going and keep growing somehow,” she explained.

It was reported last year that Kourtney, who welcomed her first child with husband Travis Barker in November, was focusing on her Poosh brand in an effort to distance herself from her famous family. A source told People that the 44-year-old, who is also mum to three children with ex Scott Disick, wanted to get away from the “family drama” after a bitter fallout with sister Kim Kardashian.

“She has much more important focuses. She loves her business and brand. She feels very proud of Poosh. She doesn’t need her family, or sisters, to make money,” the insider claimed. Kourtney, who also launched her Lemme supplements line in 2022, said in an interview with Bustle that she wanted to have her own business away from the Kardashians. “It was really important to me when I started Poosh that it was something that I was doing for myself,” she shared.
