Kate Middleton’s photo editing scandal gives Prince Harry “ammunition” against “untruthful” Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed.

The Princess of Wales is currently in the midst of a huge controversy surrounding a family photo that Kensington Palace released on Mother’s Day. Kate has been the subject of wild conspiracy theories on social media over speculation of her whereabouts following her major abdominal surgery in January. In an apparent attempt to quell the furore over her absence from royal duties, Kate and WIlliam released a picture of the 42-year-old posing with her three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

However, the photo was later ‘killed’ by leading news agencies after it emerged the snap was edited, with eagle-eyed fans spotting mistakes in the snap and sharing their findings on social media. Kate later issued a statement on Twitter/X, as she claimed full responsibility for the error, as she claimed she had been the one to edit the original photo. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C,” Kate said.

But the row has rumbled on, and Kensington Palace fuelled more conspiracy theories online after they confirmed they would not be releasing the original image. Royal expert Sophie Ellsworth claimed on Sky News Australia that the ongoing row over the edited picture will only help Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as they have previously claimed the Royal Family has tried to cover up stories in the press.

“This was meant to be a positive photo to show that Princess Catherine was well after her surgery, that was the whole idea to release this photo on Mother’s Day. And then it turned into making global headlines for all the wrong reasons, and then the concession that the photo was doctored,” Sophie began.

She said the photo scandal has caused a “problem” for Kensington Palace, as Kate and Prince William try to deal with the “fallout” of the edited picture amid wild conspiracy theories on the Princess of Wales’ whereabouts. “It removes what it ultimately was supposed to do, which was to show that she was well. Really, this only gives ammunition to Prince Harry and Meghan to say what they put out is not truthful or accurate because they tried to change the photo,” she explained.
