Donald Trump has stopped showing his wife Melania "chivalry" in what has been described by the former First Lady's ex-advisor as "quite a tell".

Former senior advisor Stephanie Winston Wolkoff pointed out that the former US president always used to wait for Melania so she could walk by his side. But she claimed he no longer does that.

Stephanie, the author of 'Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady', wrote on X, formerly called Twitter: "Let me bottom line this for you. Perception is everything to the Trump Family so Donald's lack of 'chivalry' towards Melania is quite a 'tell'".

She continued: "Chivalry for Donald was waiting for Melania to go first & ensuring she walked by his side. He’s been doing neither recently."

The 53-year-old then shared a video showing some older clips of Trump and his wife, showing him waiting for her and placing his hand on Melania's back so she would walk ahead of him.

But more recent footage shows a completely different story, with the former president often walking ahead of his wife and leaving her a few steps behind. Many in the comments section agreed with her as one wrote: "#Melania and #Trump despise each other. She is physically revolted by him and he has zero interest in her."

One more added: "It is clear Melanie hates him but they deserve each other." And another said: "He didn't as president either. If it was raining and they were walking to the helicopter, he kept the umbrella to himself and let her get wet. He would get in the vehicle on the closest side and shut the door. She would have to go around to the other side."

However, someone else defended Trump and his wife as one wrote: "People read too much into things. This family has been put through hell by the media and the court system. She also just lost her mother. Her heart is not into this right now. She would rather be home but she is there for her husband."

Melania previously described Stephanie as an "opportunist" following the release of her book. In a 2020 essay published on the White House's website, Melania said her former advisor was "someone who clung to me after my husband won the Presidency", adding: "This is a woman who secretly recorded our phone calls, releasing portions from me that were out of context, then wrote a book of idle gossip trying to distort my character."

There has been a lot of speculation about Trump's marriage to Melania and last week the former First Lady fuelled concerns as she did not attend her husband's victory speech after a successful Super Tuesday. The 77-year-old addressed hundreds of supporters at Mar-a-Lago, their home in Palm Beach, Florida, after securing his third consecutive Republican presidential nomination.

Trump and current US President Joe Biden each won California, Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Maine, Oklahoma, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Minnesota and Massachusetts. "This was an amazing night, an amazing day, it’s been an incredible period of time in our country’s history,” Trump said during his victory speech. He added: “They call it Super Tuesday for a reason."

Melania was not in attendance as the former president spoke to supporters at the club's gilded ballroom. His sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were in attendance, however. Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka, was also absent but it is widely known that she has said she would not be playing a big role in her father's political pursuits anymore.

Melania has somewhat tried to keep out of the public eye since leaving the White House in January 2021. She has not been seen at either her husband's rallies or his court appearances.

According to the Palm Beach Post, while Melania has not been at the rallies or court appearances, she did accompany her husband last month to the Trumpettes gala, also held at the Palm Beach estate. She has been largely absent from her husband's side for political events since November 2022, when she went with him as they cast their ballots at the Barbara Mandel Recreation Center in Palm Beach. She then went with him as he announced his 2024 campaign at Mar-a-Lago a week later.

Melania had been looking after her mother, Amalija Knavss, who died in early January. Speaking at his New Year's Eve gala, Trump explained his mother-in-law was "very ill" and that Melania was by her side at a hospital in Miami. Melania announced the loss of her mother on X, calling her "a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity."
