Phillip Schofield has been seen for the first time since new hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were named as permanent replacements for him and Holly Willoughby on This Morning.

The new hosts of the ITV magazine show made their debut on Monday morning, with viewers praising their on-air chemistry and dynamic after they were announced as the new permanent hosts following Phillip's shock departure last May and Holly's decision to step away from This Morning last October.

As Ben, 49, and Cat, 47, made their very first debut on This Morning on Monday, Phillip was out for a cold morning stroll in West London with his dog.

The disgraced former presenter - who quit the show last May after his affair with a younger male member of staff was exposed - looked rather glum as he braved the chilly London weather to walk his pet dog.

The former presenter wrapped up against the March chill in a black puffer jacket which featured a cream wool collar. Phil paired the coat a black hoodie underneath and a pair of navy skinny jeans and matching navy boots. He kept a straight face as he was photographed while walking his miniature dog on a leesh.

This Morning has been without permanent presenters since Phillip and Holly quit the programme last year. However, in February it was announced that Ben and Cat would take up the reigns after months of uncertainty at the channel. Following their debut on Monday morning, viewers have praised the new This Morning duo - adding that they are 'better' than Holly and Phil's dynamic.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Slots, body language expert Darren Stanton also said: “I think Cat and Ben are going to make a great permanent team on This Morning. The show is in good hands now. While there’s been a succession of various presenters over the past year, they’ve definitely found their feet with their two.

"It does work well when you have people at similar periods in life with similar experiences. In terms of their overall body language as a duo, we’re seeing a couple that have got a deep reciprocal liking, are well aware of each other’s skills and abilities, and display mutual respect."

"The levels of chemistry they’re showing is similar to some of the best duos on This Morning. What’s interesting is that there’s certain times when they’ll lean in towards each other. This is quite significant, particularly for their first show together, as it’s an example of matching and mirroring that you don’t often see."

Viewers also warmed to the new presenters, with many saying they were relieved Ben and Cat would be on the channel permanently. "I didn't think I would, but I'm actually loving Ben and Cat. They make such a good team," one gushed.

"These two are better and far more genuine than Holly and Phil in my opinion," another echoed. "I have always loved Cat, and I guess Ben is easy on the eyes so it's a win-win situation here," another joked.
