A hungry bloke's abysmal takeaway has left people baffled, with some even comparing it to something from their "cat's litter tray".

Stephen Thompson was left majorly disappointed and utterly 'disgusted' after he placed an order for some food from a Toby Carvery. What he says arrived, aside from looking bizarre, was enough to even put his dog off eating it.

He requested two Thursday Starter Surprise bags from his local Darlington branch of Toby via the food app Too Good To Go, which makes use of restaurants' surplus and unsold food, therefore helping to reduce waste.

Unfortunately it seems on this occasion what arrived became exactly that. According to Tyla, Stephen shared a post about his 'unsavoury' delivery to Facebook, which went viral, receiving over a thousand likes.

He captioned the snap, "Toby Carvery's new starter meal absolutely disgusting not worth the trip," alongside an image of four brown logs in a food box.

He revealed that he thought the soft substance was supposed to be pate but told the website: "That's got to have been the worst meal I've had in my life and I bought two. Feel like I've been robbed." He went on to say that he had to, "spit it out," and claimed even his dog wouldn't eat it.

Other customers found the post highly amusing and disgusting. One asked: "What was it? Looks like something from my cat's litter tray." Despite Stephen’s pooch turning its nose up at the brown smush, another remarked: "Looks like dog food, what's it meant to be?" and a third joked: "Why does it look like someone has just s***e in a box?!"

Stephen wasn't the only Toby customer to be less than impressed with his starter delivery. Others took to Facebook to share their own dismay. Michelle Tricker posted an image of her brown logs which had some slices of cucumber next to them and wrote: "I also bought the Toby Carvery starter bag. The pate was frozen and the cucumber wasn't edible. Did get the chutney but no bread. Very disappointed."

Another shocked Too Good To Go punter posted pictures of her starter bag from Toby which contained the same pate logs, salad and some white bread. Summer Leigh advised others: "DO NOT BUY IT pics are attached… I paid nearly £4 for this but it's supposed to be worth £12..!! Well where do I start the green stuff is shrivelled up so can not even feed the tortoise and the stick of funny coloured log well….. the only thing at mine that will eat it is my cocker spaniel as she eats…. SH** am sorry it is that bad…!!"

The Mirror has contacted Toby Carvery for comment.
