Mauricio Pochettino has told his Chelsea players to speak with Todd Boehly if they want him sacked.

Pochettino has come under increased pressure in recent weeks as the Blues risk missing out on Europe - let alone the Champions League - for the second successive season. They currently sit 11th, 19 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa after winning just 10 of their 26 Premier League matches.

Chelsea also recently lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool, though they are still in the FA Cup and face Leicester for a place in the semi-final at Wembley next month. However, during their 2-2 draw against Brentford last weekend, disgruntled fans appeared to turn against Pochettino.

Chants in the support of former boss Jose Mourinho and "f*** off Mauricio" were heard among the travelling Chelsea supporters. In the aftermath of the game at the Gtech Community Stadium, Pochettino defended his squad and told the fans to vent their frustration at him and not the players.

Now, Pochettino has astonishingly come out and told his Chelsea players to communicate with Todd Boehly and the board if they want him sacked. Speaking before the Blues face Newcastle on Monday, the Argentine said: "Look, I respect Jose, he is my friend. He was amazing for this club, his medals here are amazing.

"We need to be pushing and believe in us and accept the things that come from the fans. If the players believe that with another coach they can do better... maybe they can talk with the owner or sporting director. You need to ask the players. You can ask. Do you see me worried about this?

"No. Is it a problem of attitude? No. It is a problem? No. You can see in the way that they behave that they are behind us. Of course there is no doubt."

Chelsea lost 4-1 to Newcastle in the reverse fixture, but Pochettino is focusing on his side, rather than looking at the opposition in too much detail. A win over the Magpies will see the Blues remain 11th but tighten the gap in the race for European football next season.

He added: "The most important thing is to work on us. I am concentrated on our performance and the way we are going to deal, now, without two or three starters from the last game.

"So we’ll need different solutions to deal with these injuries. Maybe we see if (Marc) Cucurella arrives in good condition or if we need to change the way we play.

"We have been focused in the last three days on providing the team the best balance with all the possibility to be consistent and perform in the way we need to perform.

"Of course, we know Newcastle and can assess Newcastle, but the most important thing is the balance we are going to find the balance in the team, be consistent and perform in the way we need to perform."
