Princess Kate's cute Mother's Day photo has a cringe editing fail
Kate Middleton's daughter has been the victim of what appears to be a minor editing failure.
This morning, Princess Kate shared a photo of herself sitting with kids George, Charlotte and Louis, to mark Mother's Day. It is the first time the royal has been officially photographed since she entered hospital for medical treatment.
The photograph has been met with enthusiasm by monastic cheerleaders who are happy to see the Princess of Wales looking happy and well after an extended period out of the limelight. However, several hours after the photo was posted online, royal obsessives have had enough time to identify a flaw.
The hand of the third in line to the throne, Charlotte, has been partially spliced from her arm. In the picture, there is a small gap to the inside of her left arm by her wrist. Where the viewer assumes there should be a length of pink cardigan, there is negative space before the knitted garment continues further around the limb.
"Professional photographer here. Look closely at Princess Charlotte’s wrist. This is what happens when you composite layers in Photoshop. I’m not speculating on why the photo was edited like this, but it’s weird," portrait photographer Martin Bamford wrote on Twitter. Kensington Palace chose not to comment on the alleged photo editing.
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'If Charlotte has indeed lost a section of her body through Photoshop, then she would not be alone among her siblings. The family's Christmas card last year also suffered a photoshop fail after Prince Louis was left without a middle finger.
In the monochrome portrait, the young member of the landed classes can be seen to the side of Charlotte, his left hand resting on the arm of her chair. All appears well in the photo, aside from the fact his longest finger is gone.
Curiously, Louis' finger length has again been questioned. After studying the photo released today, some fans have noticed something strange about a finger on the prince's right hand.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan wrote: "Gorgeous photo! What happened to Prince Louis' finger? It looks like it's missing." Another said: "Is Prince Louis missing a finger? What in the AI is going on." However, another fan pointed out: "I think the missing finger is how he’s holding the arm of the chair…"
Beyond the small matter of minor editing issues, the photo has been received well by royal fans. Judi James, a body language watcher, saw many positive qualities in the photo of Kate and her children.
She told the Mirror: "There are thankfully no signs of frailty on display here. Her legs are crossed at the ankles making her appear active rather than keen to stay in her seat. Kate’s arms are around her two youngest children in a protective gesture and all three children look relaxed, with their open-mouthed laughter and smiles looking reasonably spontaneous and unforced," she told the Mirror.
