Gary Goldsmith's brutal takedown of Prince Harry and Meghan
Gary Goldsmith launched a scathing attack on ‘unreasonable’ Prince Harry and ‘jealous’ Meghan Markle after their Netflix documentary.
Celebrity Big Brother’s Gary Goldsmith may have been dubbed ‘buncle’ or bad uncle by his nieces Kate and Pippa and nephew James Middleton but he publicly had the Princess of Wales ’ back after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive Netflix documentary was aired.
In 2022, Gary, like much of the nation, watched in stunned disbelief as Harry and his wife dropped bombshell after bombshell about the Royal family and life within the institution. Unsurprisingly, the self-made millionaire certainly had plenty to say about it afterwards.
He spoke to the Daily Mail on his initial reaction to what he felt was a one-sided and ‘unfair’ account of individuals within the family. "To me, the series felt not only scripted and inauthentic, but unfair, self-interested, unreasonable and untrue — especially when done in the knowledge that William and Catherine could never answer back," he said.
He implied that the couple who had left the UK and their Royal duties for a life in the US, had only filmed the series for the money and without a thought for the Queen, who was elderly and in poor health at the time.

Gary is in the Celebrity Big Brother house (ITV)He ranted: "To be honest, I found it to be a self-pitying whinge-fest. I feel magnificently disappointed with them and their complete lack of respect for the Queen, who was old and unwell when they were filming this. Would this have happened if they weren't being paid a prince's ransom for it? I don't think so."
Prince Harry spoke on camera about how he believed people, men especially, within the Royal family felt a duty to marry women "who would fit the mould, as opposed to somebody who you are perhaps destined to be with".
However Gary, whose older sister is Kate’s mother Carole, slammed this opinion when it came to his niece and described her marriage to Prince William as "the real fairy-tale love story," and said the couple work together incredibly well while Harry and Meghan were being "massively disruptive".
Mum of three, Kate was seen in footage in the documentary looking stony-faced while Meghan spoke about how formal the family were compared to how she had been brought up. She recalled meeting the future King and Queen for dinner while barefoot and wearing jeans and was taken aback by how restrained they were.

"I think, if anything, it is Meghan who is jealous of Kate because she makes it look effortless — when it is, as Meghan discovered, such hard work. I think Kate is perfect for this job. She was born for it and the partnership she has got with William is fantastic."
He went on to further praise Kate and William, who he said put their family first, then the Monarchy and lastly themselves, whereas Harry and Meghan "place a high priority on themselves."
