Linda Robson says her daughter gives her 'pocket money' and controls her cash
Linda Robson has said that her daughter gives her "pocket money" and controls her cash.
Appearing on Friday's episode of Lorraine, the Birds of a Feather actress opened up about how her daughter, Lauren, is in charge of her finances so she doesn't get into debt. The 65-year-old talked about how her family have helped her with mental health struggles in the past and organising her finances.
Speaking to host Ranvir Singh, the Loose Women panelist said that her fellow panel show pals helped her when she struggled with an alcohol addiction. She also went on to say that her daughter had to swoop in to help her with her cash.
Lauren explained: "She's always been really bad with money. She used to get store cards and just spend on them, it's like she didn't think you had to pay them at the end of the month." Ranvir then went on to say how generous Linda was with other people as Lauren said that her mum used to buy everything for her friends.
She explained: "She used to buy everyone everything, pay for everyone to go on holiday, pay for us to go places, so it's not like she just goes out shopping and spends everything on herself." Linda then interjected saying: "I love buying presents for people."
Adam Thomas says devastating Waterloo Road plot helped him grieve for late dadDespite being so generous, Lauren said that she is now in charge of her mum's spending to make sure that she doesn't use all of her savings again after she ended up in thousands of pounds of debt when Birds of a Feather came to an end.
Lauren said: "When she lost all of her money and went bankrupt she was in a terrible state so we never want that to happen to her again. I have her money, it goes into an account that I have access to and then I give her money on a Monday and a Friday."
Ranvir went on to ask: "Do you get pocket money?" and Linda replied: "Yes and sometimes I ring her and say I've run out of money can I have some more? And she says no, you've had your pocket money, you'll have to wait."
Linda's other daughter Bobby used to be in charge of her money before Lauren took on the job. Linda explained that Lauren tends to be stricter with her and when Bobby was in charge, she used to find it easier to get money from her daughter. She said: "(Bobby) was easier, I used to be able to get money off Bobby easier, but now Lauren's got it she's quite strict."
Birds of a Feather officially came to an end in December 2020. However, it was broadcast on BBC One for a nine year run from 1989 before being revived fifteen years later for ITV.
