The Princess of Wales has been seen in a series of photos as she and Prince William mark an important event.

Kate, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery and is not due to return to duties until at least Easter, can be seen in a gallery of photos shared on her and William's official social media accounts meeting inspirational women over the past year in a post to mark International Women's Day.

All of the snaps that feature Kate were taken before her surgery and nearly all have been seen before. However, it is the first time an image of the princess has been shared on the official channels since December 31, when the social media accounts did a round-up of the events both she and William had attended last December.

Among the pictures shared of Kate is one of her meeting Sarah Goldson, who trains ball boys and girls for Wimbledon. A video was released of Kate taking part in the training ahead of last year's Wimbledon championships. There's also a snap of her with Bianca Sakol, the co-founder of Sebby's Corner baby bank, which she visited in November and another of her with Dr Gubby Ayida - the CEO of Evelina London children's hospital. Kate visited the hospital last December.

There's also an image of Kate and William together beaming as they chat with Professor Uzo Iwobi, the founder of Race Council Cymru, who they met on a trip to Cardiff in October. William is also pictured alongside some of the women being honoured including England Lionesses manager Sarina Weigman and Holocaust survivor Renee Salt. In a message the post says: "Happy International Women’s Day! Celebrating the impact of amazing women today, and every day. Here are just a few of the brilliant women we’ve been inspired by over the past 12 months."

Kate spent nearly two weeks at The London Clinic in Marylebone after undergoing "planned abdominal surgery" on January 16 and was discharged on January 29. Kate hasn't taken part in any official royal engagements since Christmas Day when she was seen walking to and from church at Sandringham with other royals but was seen on Monday for the first time since her procedure, out driving near her Windsor home with her mum, Carole Middleton.

Having previously said no updates would be given on her health, Kensington Palace last week said she was "continuing to recover well" after Prince William pulled out of a memorial service at Windsor Castle for "personal reasons".

The Palace spoke out after theories spread online about her health. The statement last week said: "We were really clear from the start we weren’t going to provide a running commentary on the Princess of Wales ’s health and only provide significant updates. Obviously, we’ve seen the madness of social media and that is not going to change our strategy. There has been much on social media but the Princess has a right to privacy and asks the public to respect that."

When news broke of Kate's admission to The London Clinic in Marylebone, Central London, Kensington Palace did not confirm further details of the Princess's treatment but said she was not rushed to hospital and her condition was "non-cancerous".
