Kate Garraway misses another GMB as her absence explained live on air
Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway's reasons for missing the show have been revealed, after fans were left concerned.
Kate was absent from Thursday's edition of the show, with her replacement Ranvir Singh sending her well wishes on X. Kate had also left her Smooth radio show during broadcast on Wednesday, leading to a flurry of concerned reactions from her listeners.
But now Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins have explained what's happened to Kate and why she's missed her TV commitments over the past few days. Charlotte confirmed Kate was a little under the weather, after her radio co-star Tina Hobley previously suggested Kate had lost her voice.
Charlotte confirmed this on GMB on Friday, admitting Kate was meant to be on the show amid her being named one of Britain's 50 most influential women by the Independent. Charlotte and Adil sent their best wishes to their pal, as they confirmed she was doing ok but was "unable to speak".
Charlotte said to viewers: "She would be here today but she's lost her voice. She's all well but she can't speak." Adil joked: "She's lost her voice, she's been too influential in the past year."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesCharlotte went on: "I know, she obviously has been hasn't she." Adil then said: "Be less influential Kate and get better soon." GMB fans had been worried on Thursday when Kate was a no-show.
Usually, Kate presents the programme on Thursdays but she was missing and Ranvir stepped in to host with Richard Madeley. Richard took over from Ben Shephard on Thursday, joining Ranvir on the ITV show from 6am. One fan tweeted: "Missing @kategarraway on @ gmb Hope ur feeling better soon xx ."
The presenter abandoned her morning radio show on Wednesday too just 30 minutes in and hadn't been seen on TV or heard on radio since. Kate kicked off her scheduled 10am to 1pm Smooth Radio slot as usual, playing an Ed Sheeran track following by a Paul Young classic.
However, after adverts aired around half an hour into the programme, Kate's Smooth Radio co-star Tina stepped in to host the GMB presenter's show. She told fans that Kate had been "sent home" as her voice had "completely gone".
