The final piece of the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the UK has now been installed.

Thorpe Park has now put the final bit of the track of Hyperia in place, completing the tallest point of the record breaking ride. Hyperia is 71m tall, compiled of 995.4m of track and reaches speeds of over 80mph. The record-breaking coaster has taken over 5,292 man hours to build to date and will open this Spring.

This week, after months of construction, a 500-tonne crane helped lift the 92nd and final piece of track into place to complete the near kilometre long masterpiece. Reaching breath-taking heights at full-throttle speed, the brand-new coaster is set to get hearts racing, voices screaming and perhaps thrill-seekers vomiting.

Designed by Senior Creative Lead, John Burton, the coaster features three inversions including a dive loop, a non-inverted Immelmann and stall loop – where riders will be held upside down for an extended period of time. The rollercoaster also includes a splashdown element where daredevil riders will descend and glide over the lake below whilst experiencing some majestic water effects.

Neil Poulter, divisional director at Thorpe Park, said: "We’re delighted to be launching the UK’s tallest, fastest and most weightless ride here at Thorpe Park in 2024 and bringing guests a brand-new record-breaking attraction which has been years in the making. We are excited for Thrill seekers to be able to experience Hyperia which will be an amazing addition to our other record-breaking rides. Thorpe Park is a must-visit for those looking to embark on an exhilarating adventure with friends and family."

In good news for younger teenager, those 1.3m or taller will be able to ride Hyperia. Thorpe Park has said "visitors can also expect a thrilling experience like never before with the lap bar restraint adding to the weightless feeling riders will experience whilst racing along Hyperia’s track which weighs a staggering 232 tonnes".

Visitors to the park should also prepare to be propelled 0-80 miles per hour in less than two seconds on iconic rollercoaster, Stealth, and take on the UK’s first winged rollercoaster, The Swarm. They can also endure the searing heat of Nemesis Inferno which twists riders through the scorching forces and lava-laden loops of an intense and volatile volcanic rollercoaster voyage before getting a super-soaking from the 85ft plunge of the water ride, Tidal Wave.

The nearest rail station is Staines which is 32 minutes direct from London Waterloo. On open days a shuttle bus runs between Staines Station and Thorpe Park every 15 minutes. Alternatively, both the 950 and 951 buses get you right up to the gates.
