Gladiators' Sabre, real name Sheli McCoy, hit back at a vile troll who made a comment about her body on her Instagram page.

The BBC star has been a huge hit on the rebooted show with fans rushing to her social media to get updates on her day-to-day life away from her time on TV and training. The star shares snaps and videos of her gruelling training sessions as well as her personal trainer career.

One troll decided it was a good idea to comment about the size of her body in a recent post. Over a picture of her incredible physique, she shared a screenshot of the comment which read: "Don't go too bulky," along with a fire emoji. She responded: "If I'm too big, you're too small. #WomenAreAthletesToo #UnapologeticallyAthletic"

The comment was seemingly in response to a video she posted about her incredible training routine. Her fans were quick to support her as she later shared a screenshot and told her followers: "Spread the word. The girls are HERE and they are going to smash every glass ceiling ever placed above athletic women. Take up space, be the athlete you dream of being and never ever let the 'Gazzas' of the world back there slow your roll. #LetsGoGirls."

Sheli is a Scottish champion in five British Weightlifting Championships with records in Olympic Weightlifting at the Scottish Championships with records in Olympic Weightlifting at the Scottish Championships too.

The hardworking star loves CrossFit and has been Scottish champion in the discipline at the same time as in weightlifting. Originally from Windsor, Sheli trains between 16 to 19 hours every week. She's also more than just muscle. She got a master's degree from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and heads her own gym in Dundee.

She also works as an online coach, personal trainer and sports rehabilitation therapist. Ahead of Gladiators premiering in January, Sheli said: "I truly hope Sabre will inspire and empower the younger generation of strong capable females just as the Gladiators I once watched inspired me to be a confident athletic woman."

Sheli added: "It is Sabre's time to shine - here come the powerful girls." "It's a dream come true," Sheli admitted before filming the BBC show, going on to say, "I'll be taking part in the old, iconic games my mum and I once watched and I can't wait to attack the new ones with her watching."
