Inside Louis Walsh’s private life - feuds, dating and rumoured TV appearance

The closest we’ve all gotten to Louis Walsh’s love life is him admitting that he has one but soon we may glean a little more into the the much-loved boy-band manager who has been rumoured to be a contestant on this year's Celebrity Big Brother. In 2012, Louis Walsh jokingly tied the knot with then Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack during a spoof segment on the show but other than this has always stayed mum about his private life.

Louis has appeared on various television shows such as Popstars, You're a Star, The X Factor, and Ireland's Got Talent over the years as a talent manager. He’s somewhat of the boyband whisperer and has led many to success including Boyzone and Westlife and even girl groups like Girls Aloud but along the way, he has caused rifts and put his foot in it which has ended in furious feuds.

Names have been swirling over the contestants who will be in ITV ’s revived Celebrity Big Brother house which is scheduled to hit screen on March 11th and whilst nothing has been confirmed, Louis Walsh’s name has cropped up. The manager has eagerly shared his opinion on talent shows for thirty years, judging whether people could make it big.

In a 2013 interview with the Sunday Times, Louis briefly addressed his sexuality after refusing to answer a question. When asked, he replied: "I can't... Don't go there. I can't. I think your private life is your private life... I'm happy. Happy as Larry!"

It’s even been reported that ahead of entering the Celebrity Big Brother house Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne have both undergone respect and inclusivity training. The Mirror reported that the training is said to cover appropriate “use of language and acceptable behaviour”.

Louis is no stranger to feuds or opinions and despite working together, he had a falling out with Boyzone member Ronan Keating who he managed and who later was involved in the early days of managing Westlife with Louis.

When Ronan Keating announced he wanted to take a break from Boyzone, Louis continued to manage his career. Ronan achieved a number-one hit with "Life is a Rollercoaster" in 2000 while his album sold 4.4 million copies.

Keating and Walsh later agreed to part ways and then had a bitter falling out. Louis told the press at the time, "He wasn't the most talented one – he's not a great singer and he's got no personality."

Keating later told Closer magazine, "That man tried to ruin me and if he thinks we can ever hug and make up he can forget it. I haven't heard from him in three years and I wouldn't have a problem if I never saw him again. He's not a nice character." By 2008, apparently the feud had fizzled out.

No stranger to controversy, Louis waged war on Cheryl Cole back in the early 2000s when he labelled all the members of Girls Aloud as 'fat'. Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh explained that the music manager walked onto the set of their music video and applauded them all for 'not being fat' anymore' in 2004.

In a 2017 interview with BUILD Series LDN, Kimberly revealed: "We were doing our video for Love Machine in 2004 and Louis Walsh waltzed in and said to us, "Oh, none of you are fat any more. Brilliant, that’s great."

She added: "Obviously in Louis’ head he did have an issue with some of our sizes but I think he learnt from Nigel and thought best not to comment in public - but he did in private.”
