Easter is officially cancelled, as Cadbury says farewell to another cult-favourite.

The chocolate giant has discontinued the 38g Mini Egg Cartons. Luckily, chocolate lovers can still get their hands on the 80g, 270g, and 1kg bags of the iconic sweet treats, as well as the Mini Eggs chocolate bar and several Easter Eggs.

It comes after one person desperate for the little cartons took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to ask Cadbury whether they would be returning this year. "[I've] not been able to locate them as they're listed as out of stock pretty much everywhere," he added.

Sadly, Cadbury confirmed the product would 'not be returning' but didn't explain why. "We're always listening to our Cadbury fans to ensure our Easter range includes their favourites and reflects their changing tastebuds," the company wrote. "We've made a few changes to reflect this and think our 2024 line-up is egg-cellent, even if we do say so ourselves!"

Last month, Cadbury received heavy backlash when shoppers discovered a large bag of 1kg Mini Eggs will now set you back an eye-watering £17.50. A spokesperson for parent company Mondelēz International told the Mirror the inflated prices are due to spiked production costs.

"We understand the economic pressures that consumers continue to face, and raising cost prices is a last resort for our business," the brand said. "However, as a food producer, we are continuing to experience significantly higher input costs across our supply chain, with ingredients such as cocoa and sugar, which are widely used in our products, costing far more than they have done previously."

However, it's not all bad news in the confectionary world. Cadbury sent fans into a frenzy last month as chocolate lovers rushed to buy an 'addictive' Mini Egg flavour.

The new choccies feature the same hard shell and soft centre, but are infused with sweet orange. They're available from a slew of supermarkets including Tesco - where they're priced at £1.30 for a 80g bag.

After being posted on TikTok channel Newfoods UK, thousands of Brits hailed the sweets, with one user describing them as 'sensational'. "I need at least 100 bags of these," one viewer wrote. While another added: "Orange chocolate mini eggs are chef's kiss."
