'Mould went crazy after leak in my home - but Home Bargains find got rid of it'

Finding mould in your home can be worrying; it can cause potential health issues and can be a nightmare to clean.

After months of harsh weather conditions it is not uncommon to find mould around the house. When water vapour in the air hits our cold windows, it releases moisture onto the glass as water droplets, providing a pathway for mould to build up. Mould can start to grow as quickly as 24 hours after the area is exposed to moisture, and if not dealt with, it can continue to grow quickly. Not only is it unsightly, but It can be difficult to clean but is can be dangerous for your health too.

One woman was horrified when she opened one of her cupboards to "crazy" mould had built up. It was so bad that her white walls looked like they were "covered in blue wallpaper". It comes after the individual, who wishes to remain unnamed, shared on TikTok that she had a leak in her home which unfortunately caused the fungus build up.

But she managed to remove the toxic fuzz with one cheap product.

Sharing a clip on her TikTok page @wharsfordinnerha, the savvy homeowner demonstrated how she used a £2.50 product she got from Home Bargains - Kilrock mould remover.

The post went viral and people were just as amazed by the results. After seeing the condition of her water storage cupboard, one individual said: "I thought it was a blue wallpaper at first."

"To be honest I’d just hack that wall out and start a new," another shocked individual said. One individual said: "Honestly I would love to clean this I feel like I’d find it rather satisfying."

The woman said: "Come with me to tackle this mould. Now, you're probably thinking - how the heck did that happen?

"We had a leak in our water storage cupboard and the mould just went crazy. So I got this spray from Home Bargain after my dad's recommendation."

The product has been described as a 'professional formula' with 'bleaching action'. It is said to be ideal for interior surfaces such as kitchens, basements, bathrooms and more. It can be found on Ocado, B&Q, and Amazon as well Home Bargains. To use, all you need to do is turn the spray nozzle then spray the mould-covered area. Leave the product for 20 to 30 minutes before cleaning it off with a wet sponge. You may need to repeat for tougher marks.

The hack sharer said she "could not believe her eyes when she saw the results". She pointed out that people should be aware her trick is a short term solution until her leak gets properly fixed.
