BRIT Awards host Roman Kemp makes savage dig about Christian Horner scandal
BRIT Awards host Roman Kemp made a savage dig about the drama surrounding Christian Horner during the live show.
Geri Horner and her 50-year-old Formula 1 boss husband - who has been Team Principal and CEO of Red Bull F1 Team since 2005 - saw their marriage rocked over claims he sent suggestive messages to a female colleague. Christian was cleared following internal investigation and Red Bull said he will remain in his role as team principal and chief executive.
At the BRITS, Roman made a dig about the scandal while presenting amongst the guests. He said: "It's busier here than at the Red Bull's press office." While the Spice Girl and her husband have faced speculation their marriage has been rocked by the scandal, the pair put on a united front earlier in the day.
On Saturday, the couple attended the Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir - in front of the world’s media and cameras. The couple arrived at the sports venue hand-in-hand - and proved they are still passionate for each other as they kissed once inside the venue.
Ahead of the show, the hosts Maya Jama, Clara Amfo and Roman all shared their excitement to be teaming up to present the awards. Clara said: “Hosting The BRITs is a bucket list job, I’m so very honoured and excited for this year’s show. Throughout my career, I’ve been so lucky to witness the growth of this year’s nominees and performers and I know it’s gonna be another special one. I can’t wait to hit the stage with Maya and Roman to celebrate these amazing artists at The O2!”
Kate says raising kids is 'tough' and it's 'not about how many toys' they haveMaya added: “I'm really excited to be hosting The BRIT Awards alongside Clara and Roman. I’ve worked alongside the incredible team at the BRITs for years now and it’s something I always watched, and wanted to be a part of, growing up - so it’s amazing to be on the stage this year hosting it! It’s always one of the best nights of the year for me, and a real celebration of British music, culture, and talent.”
Roman shared: “This is a real pinch me moment! Hosting the BRIT Awards - what an honour. I remember watching the BRITs on TV when I was growing up so to be asked to host this year’s awards, is a dream come true. It’s going to be a privilege to share the stage with so many talented artists and to celebrate the incredible achievements of all the nominees and winners this year. See you there.”
The BRIT Awards was hit with controversy last year when no female artists made the final shortlist for Artist of the Year – which was subsequently won by Harry Styles. The British Phonograph Industry, who organise the annual event, have stated that gender balance has been readdressed following last year's outrage.
