Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney send message to Paul Mullin after goal drought
Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney praised striker Paul Mullin who scored a stunning hat-trick.
The 29-year-old was ruthless in front of goal as he scored three goals in the first half to help his team to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Accrington Stanley. This did not go unnoticed by the acting duo who took to social media platform X to comment on his excellent performance.
“What a menace,” Reynolds posted while McElhenney added: “I guess Paul is back to fitness.” McElhenney was in the stands at the Racecourse Ground to watch Wrexham secure a vital win to stay in touch with the automatic promotion places in League Two. Mullin ended his seven-game goal drought with a last-gasp penalty against relegation-threatened Forest Green on Tuesday night.

Following a seven-game goal drought, and a penalty in the last game, he has now well and truly rediscovered his scoring touch as his three-goal display and another from top goalscorer Elliot Lee ensured Wrexham won just the second match of their last eight league games, having won seven of their preceding 10 outings. Wrexham scored all four goals before half-time and cruised through the second half. Accrington Stanley’s afternoon went from bad to worse when Lewis Shipley was sent off in stoppage time.

The victory sees the Welsh club go up to the third place after Crewe Alexander suffered a 3-2 defeat to fellow playoff hopefuls Morecambe. They are level on points with second-place Stockport, only behind on goal difference, but are three behind the league leaders Mansfield Town. However, the top two sides in the league have a game in hand on Wrexham.
"(I'm) pleased, a really good performance from the lads and yes, it's a great win,” boss Phil Parkinson said. "I've been saying we've dominated a lot of games without really getting our rewards, but we've kept believing that dominance will be turned into goals because in the last few years, it normally has. It's probably the first time where we've had periods where we haven't punished teams.

They then gifted the royal family member with a Wrexham shirt with his name printed on the back above the number nine. Commenting on Wrexham’s incredible story, Prince William said: "It's a great success story you're building here, everything you've started and achieved, it's fantastic. So onwards and upwards it's exciting. And anyone who's a true football fan wants to see you do well."
