Harry and Meghan's 'PR blitz' in bid to move on from bombshell royal revelations

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a number of public appearances recently, and there might be a good reason why.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been pictured on numerous occasions so far in 2024, engaging with fans, walking hand-in-hand - even trying out extreme sports of a trip to Canada.. Harry spoke on US chat show Good Morning America about his upcoming winter Invictus Games, and made a surprise appearance at the NFL Awards in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, a video was posted on the Archwell Foundation website of Meghan making dumplings with Afghan female refugees on Monday. Meghan also appeared via video for the opening of a new wing of an animal charity recently.

Harry and Meghan also launched their new website last month. Some people think the website and their recent sightings have been an effort to be "more royal."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left their royal duties behind in January 2020 when the pair moved to California in the United States. Since then there's been a strain on their relationship with members of the royal family who are still involved in it.

Harry wrote a memoir that slammed his brother, Prince William, and father, King Charles. The couple also released a Netflix documentary series titled Harry & Meghan about their relationship and the hardships that they faced while part of the royal family.

But it seems like Harry and Meghan might want to reach back out with the royals. After Harry was told by Charles himself of the King's cancer diagnosis, Harry dashed off to the United Kingdom to be with his father. Harry also plans on appealing a recent decision to revoke his tax payer funded security while in Britain.

While the two seem to be thinking about rebuilding ties, PR expert Nick said they need to "move on" and look towards the future. "They will be wanting to be careful to not reflect on the past but to look at a clear future with a path towards building them away from ridicule and building themselves as humanitarians, producers and campaigners," Nick said to Mail Online.

Similarly, royal writer Phil Dampier said: "Their recent appearances are clearly part of a PR blitz but I'm not sure it's working for them long term and they need to nail down some hard core issues, both commercially and to do good, and concentrate on those."
