Anthony Joshua explains what he can learn from 'inspirational' Conor McGregor

Anthony Joshua believes he can learn from Conor McGregor after the fighters' ringside meeting last year.

Joshua was leaving the ring following his KO win over Robert Helenius last August when he was met by former UFC champion Conor McGregor. The Irishman had a pint of his stout in hand and convinced Joshua to take a gulp.

And ahead of his clash with Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia next Friday, Joshua was shown a photo of the incident and asked what he thought of McGregor. "He's a larger-than-life character; he's someone you can take inspiration from," he told Matchroom Boxing.

"Remember, you're only here once and you've got to love and live life. Each to their own but a lot of people are quiet, reserved and getting through life bit he's someone who's at the forefront of life and living it to its full capacity and I love him for that.

"There's milage in speaking to someone like Conor McGregor; even if it's a small gem, something is better than nothing. While you're here, love, live life. Be confident, flamboyant, be an extrovert and don't be shy. When it's all said and done you only get one chance at life."

Before Joshua fought Helenius, he was sent a crate of Forged stout by McGregor, and saids: "My guys! I'll crack this open and tell you later". The former two-time heavyweight champion then sent a message to McGregor in which he said: "Just be happy, you seem happy and that's all that matters in life at the end of the day. Long may the success continue and when I'm out in Ireland one day, I'll visit the pub but I want drinks for free though!"

McGregor was pleased to see Joshua receive his gift as he reacted to the video by writing: "This man Anthony Joshua is the definition of class, quality, and loyalty! What him and Eddie Hearn have built is just absolute magic! I cannot wait to witness AJ Powerhouse do work this weekend and live from ringside! Wow! Honoured! Let’s go!"

Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou will be shown worldwide on DAZN on Friday, March 8
