Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers is seen cuddling up to his best friend and loyal co-star Si King in his final post to Instagram.

The pair are seen with the sun on their faces and shades on, with Dave clutching his beloved motorbike helmet. The duo joined forces to promote the latest episode of their BBC series - which is midway through airing - a series Dave didn't think he would be well enough to make.

Si announced Dave's death on social media this morning, sparking an outpouring of tributes to much-loved chef, who is known for his various TV shows with Si, with the pair known collectively as the Hairy Bikers.

Just days prior, the pair were seen together on Instagram urging fans not to miss the latest episode of their TV series. The pals were exploring Merseyside and The Wirral which they said held 'a lot of childhood memories' for them both. Hairy Bikers Go West, which launched earlier this month, follows the two presenters "down the west coast of the UK on a nostalgic and emotional journey".

Promoting the latest episode, the recent post on their account, which was uploaded on Tuesday, showed Dave and Si sitting beside each other whilst working on the show. The caption read: "For their next adventure out West, the Bikers are exploring Merseyside and The Wirral, a place that holds a lot of childhood memories for both Dave and Si.

"It's also an area world renowned for its unbeatable musical heritage and cultural identity. And the Boys quickly learn it has a food scene to match. Tune in to this week's episode on @bbctwo at 7pm! You don't want to miss out on it!"

"Great to see Dave back on our screens," penned one fan in the comments. "Love this picture of you both," added another. A third replied: "Loving this new series. Love the tenderness of your friendship - it truly shows on screen."

Dave had been away from the limelight as he recovered from cancer, choosing never to reveal the type he had. The TV personality said his comeback had been a labour of love as he feared he might never see last Christmas.

On Thursday, Si broke the sad news that Dave had sadly died following a two year battle with cancer. He said in a statement: "Hi everyone, I'm afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.

"Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya."

He continued: "I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team. I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them."

"May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon. Love Si," he concluded the post by writing.
