Richard Lewis discussed death in his one of his last scenes on Curb Your Enthusiasm just days before he passed away.

The beloved star of the hit HBO show has been a regular on it throughout the 12 seasons since it began in 2000. The series saw Richard play a fictional version of himself alongside co-star and creator Larry David, with his most recent scene airing on February 18.

The scenes saw Richard and Larry playing golf and riding around in a buggy while they chatted about life with Richard telling Larry about his plans to keep him in his will. He said: "I'm leaving you in my will, I'm tweaking it and you're in it." To which Larry immediately replied: "No, no, no, don't do that ... I don't want to be in, I have money, I don't need it, give it to someone who needs it."

However, Richard persisted with his plans, sharing his reasoning with Larry, as he explained: "When I die I want you to know how much I care about you. You're my best friend, you're getting it." As Larry continued to demand the money go elsewhere he claimed he would donate it to charity if he did leave him any sum and told him he was making a 'Sherman-esque' statement, referring to American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman.

Richard then quipped back saying: "I'm sick of your historical references!" before Larry adapted a famous quote from the general saying "If nominated, I will not run, and if bequeathed, I will not accept." Richard then told Larry "Well I'm bequeathing!" as he explained that he would be hurting his feelings if he didn't accept. He added "Well, I'm giving it to you anyway," to which David joked "F*** you."

Richard sadly died last night at his home in Los Angeles after he suffered a heart attack. His death comes a year after it was revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In April 2023, Richard revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's following a brain scan. His publicist Jeff Abraham announced the sad news of his death on Wednesday.
