Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Larry David has paid tribute to his co-star Richard Lewis following his tragic death.

The comic actor, who starred alongside Richard for many years, has paid his respects to the star. Richard died suddenly at the age of 76 from a heart attack.

In a statement from Larry, shared by HBO which broadcasts Curb Your Enthusiasm, he emotionally shared what the comic meant to him. "Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me," Larry wrote.

"He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him," he added heartbreakingly.

Richard delighted fans on Larry's hit HBO show, making appearances in over 40 episodes since the pilot aired in 2000. He played a semi-fictional version of himself on the show, just like Larry did.

The beloved actor revealed last April that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Jeff Abraham, his publicist, shared the news that Richard passed away in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday night.

"His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time," Jeff said in a statement shared with Deadline.

HBO shared their own statement regarding the star's sudden passing. "We are heartbroken to learn that Richard Lewis has passed away. His comedic brilliance, wit and talent were unmatched," it read, "Richard will always be a cherished member of the HBO and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ families, our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and all the fans who could count on Richard to brighten their days with laughter.”

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis also shared a tribute to Richard on Instagram, crediting him with helping her get sober. The two actors co-starred on the 90s sitcom, Anything but Love.

"Richard’s last text to me, was hoping that I could convince ABC/Disney to put out another boxed set of episodes of the show," she wrote, "He also is the reason I am sober. He helped me. I am forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone. He found love with Joyce and that, of course, besides his sobriety, is what mattered most to him. I’m weeping as I write this. Strange way of saying thank you to a sweet and funny man. Rest in laughter, Richard. My Marty, I love you, Hannah!"
