A Married At First Sight Australia groom had viewers in tears as he opened up on his devastating family losses.

Tim was matched with Lucinda on Tuesday night's episode of the hit E4 reality show. They met each other for the very first time at the altar on their wedding day. However, disaster soon struck as their vows were called off in an MAFS first.

A huge storm swept in over their outdoor ceremony, leaving guests running away to take cover. Luckily for the new couple, the sun made a reappearance and they were able to carry on their big day. Tim initially had reservations about Lucinda and if they were a good match. He started to warm up to his bride throughout the day and decided to open up to her about his life.

Tim heartbreakingly shared that he is the only member of his family still alive. During their reception, Tim decided to share his life with the wedding guests. He said: "You are most probably wondering why I have got no family here. Unfortunately, Mum, who was my best friend, passed away 17 years ago along with my little brother. I lost Dad about six weeks ago.

"The night that I found out dad had passed away, I walked around my suburb all night reflecting on life and love and everything. I realised I was alone. That was the day that I realised I wanted to change my life and ironically this all came about so it was a very easy decision to make because of what I have gone through."

Speaking to the camera, Lucinda said: "I thought Tim's vulnerability in his speech was just beautiful. There is this incredible experience before him but it is freckled with deep grief. He has just lost his poppa bear, his last living family member really. There is no way I could be here doing this losing my father five weeks ago. I think he is really brave."

Viewers took to X - formerly Twitter - to share their thoughts on Tim's speech. One said: "My heart goes out to you Tim Hope you are ready for this." Another added: "I’m thinking that someone who’s still dealing with grief can’t actually be in the right place to start any kind of new relationship. The “experts” ought to be ashamed putting Tim into the show." Someone else commented: "I hope if they do last, that her family takes him under their wings. (No pun intended). #MAFSAU."

A fourth wrote: "Tim should not be on #MAFSAU production should have refused his application or put it on hold for a while, and told him to seek therapy he's too vulnerable to be on this show." Another added: "I'd query whether they should have told Tim to come back when he wasn't grieving the recent loss of his father." A fan said: "Everyone crying at the wedding and at home now, cheers," as someone else commented: "Timothy's story is so sad he’s all alone like he’s giving his own best man speech."
