Prince George has a 'dream job' but he'll never get to do it - just like his dad, Prince William.

From the moment he was born, every detail of the young prince's future was already planned. Even though they are first and second in line to the throne, both Prince William and Prince George had other dreams for their futures. According to reports, the father and son both wanted a similar job that is very different from Royal life.

Prince George's interest in this job is not surprising for a young boy, but the sweet reason behind William's passion is all about his late mum, Diana, Princess of Wales. Diana's biographer Andrew Morton wrote about a conversation she once had with William and Harry. He said: "William and Harry were aware of their destiny. On one occasion the boys were discussing their futures with Diana.

"When I grow up I want to be a policeman and look after you Mummy,' said William. Quick as a flash Harry replied, with a note of triumph in his voice, 'Oh no you can't, you've got to be king'," Andrew continued. It seems the dream of being a policeman is a family thing as Prince William once said that Prince George was also "obsessed" with the police, reports OK.

At a party at Kensington Palace to honour Scotland Yard, Police Commissioner Jayne Richardson told William that more police officers were needed in the area. She joked: "We are recruiting, actually, so if George and Charlotte are keen?" Prince William chuckled and responded: "[George] is obsessed, actually, by the police... cars, toys, everything."

George's fascination with the police was revealed the previous year when Prince William personally gave Santa Claus his son's Christmas list. The list only had one request... a police car! Robert Lacey, in an updated version of his book 'Battle of Brothers', speculated about Prince George's future. He wrote: "William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son."

"Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself. But sometime around the boy's seventh birthday in the summer of 2020 it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince's life of future royal 'service and duty' would particularly involve."

Robert continued that William and Kate wanted to sit George down at a "controlled moment of their choice" at the age of seven. Their decision was said to link to "William's unhappiness at the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had buzzed around his head from the start."
