Ben jokes with Jen about 'playing younger'
The couple share cute moments together, including some cheeky digs and jokes like any married couple. In a moment where Jen is seen telling Ben about the set-up of her recently-released "cinematic odyssey" This Is Me Now: A Love Story, Ben mocks Jennifer over the age she is proclaiming to be during one of the scenes.
Inside hoax claims and secrets of world's richest dog Gunther in new Netflix docReading the direction, she tells Ben: "Opening her eyes in a hospital bed, younger, age 28, and she wasn't emaciated, but exhausted." Ben interrupts and says: "Technically you weren't 28, but...". J.Lo, who looks less-than-impressed, simply replies: "Yep. All her friends are. But you were. You were." She adds: "That's why you were not as smart as me."
Ben, who is trying to stifle giggles, then replies: "I love that you want to be play younger, even in the autobiographical." Jen retorts: "This is not my autobiographical. This is meta. This is me using some of my story." Ben continues to tease his wife as he responds: "I see. Semi-autobiographical. It's your story, but younger."
He then continues to laugh before J.Lo calls him an "idiot". But it appears to all be in good fun though as the Love Don't Cost A Thing singer then also begins to laugh and Ben gives her a quick hug.
Ben makes candid confession about Jennifer
In the documentary, Ben also opens up about his concerns for Jennifer, and seemingly touches on his past issues with alcohol and how he now sees his previous habits. Speaking in a confessional, he shares: "Jen felt emotionally neglected as a child. We are kind of learning more and more, it doesn't have to be like the kind of trauma where you're you know, locked in a basement for a year to leave wounds on you. In fact they're deceptive when they're harder to pin down. It's a hard thing to look at somebody whose professional life is wildly successful, and who, you know, on Instagram, looks like they're living the happiest life in the world."
Ben then makes another stark admission, as he touches upon his alcohol use and shares: "The thing you discover, like you do with... with alcohol, is that there isn't enough alcohol in all the liquor stores in the world to fill up that thing."
Speaking about wife J.Lo, he then says: "And I think in Jennifer's case, I don't think there's enough followers or-or movies or records or-or any of that stuff to still that part of you."
Ben reacts to 'nickname' from Jen and her team
Most couples have terms of endearment for each other, but this new documentary has revealed a cute name that Jennifer and her team have dubbed on the Daredevil actor.
In the new film, Jennifer shared that she had kept a memory book overflowing with romantic, handwritten love letters from her longtime lover Ben, whom she first dated back in the early noughties. Jennifer treasured the letters, before then showing them off to her employees and pals, so they could share the same vision she did for her new album.
During a confessional, Ben recalled a time he visited Jennifer's studio and said: "My book that I had given her was down there. She's like 'I've been reading it to people. This is kind of the inspiration and I've been showing them the book.' I was like you've been showing all the musicians all those letters... and they were like 'Yeah we call you Pen Affleck.' And I was like 'oh my god.'"
Ben had reservations about opening up their love story
The documentary also sees Ben, who appears to be less in the spotlight than Jennifer, open up about when the couple began to date again.
Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury to star in new Netflix doc as first-time parentsIn one moment Ben recalled feeling some hesitation about Jen being so open with their relationship in her work. He told the cameras: "I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told. And if you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it."
In another scene, Ben expresses how it was an adjustment for him to have her share their private life with the world: "Jen was really inspired by this experience, which is how artists do their work. I certainly do the same things, but things that are private, I have always felt, are sacred and special because, in part, they’re private. So this was something of an adjustment for me."
Ben made 'compromises' when he and Jen rekindled their relationship
Speaking openly to the cameras in the documentary, Ben revealed that compromises had to be made when he and Jennifer started to date again.
He shared: "Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media'. Then I sort of realised it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re going to marry a boat captain and (you’re like), 'Well, I don’t like the water.'" He then added: "We’re just two people with, kind of, different approaches trying to learn to compromise."
