Ben Affleck appeared to address his well-documented past issues with alcohol in Jennifer Lopez 's new Amazon Prime documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

The hotly-anticipated documentary, which came hot on the heels of J.Lo's This Is Me Now: A Love Story film, which she touted as a "cinematic odyssey", sees Jen, 54, and Ben, 51 get candid about the evolution of their relationship.

Jennifer is seen breaking down in tears in the programme as she shares how "moving" it is than Ben has brought out the real her.

Ben gets equally candid, admitting initially he was concerned about their relationship being "all over Instagram " the second time around, before realising that "wasn't fair".

Later on in the documentary he opens up about his concerns for Jennifer, and seemingly touches on his past issues with alcohol.

Speaking in a confessional, he shares: "Jen felt emotionally neglected as a child. We are kind of learning more and more, it doesn't have to be like the kind of trauma where you're you know, locked in a basement for a year to leave wounds on you.

"In fact they're deceptive when they're harder to pin down. It's a hard thing to look at somebody whose professional life is wildly successful, and who, you know, on Instagram, looks like they're living the happiest life in the world."

Ben then makes a stark admission, saying: "The thing you discover, like you do with... with alcohol, is that there isn't enough alcohol in all the liquor stores in the world to fill up that thing."

Speaking about wife J.Lo, he then says: "And I think in Jennifer's case, I don't think there's enough followers or-or movies or records or-or any of that stuff to still that part of you."

Ben previously opened up about his alcohol struggles in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in March 2023.

In the candid interview, Ben, whose alcohol addiction struggles dating back decades, shared that while filming 2017s Justice League his addiction issues were particularly bad as he was "miserable" and began "drinking too much".

The Gone Girl star shared: "I started to drink too much. I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I just thought, ‘This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable.'"

Ben has sought treatment in rehab on multiple occasions over the years following his struggles. But he now seems to have now come out the other side, sharing on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast that he feels "really good" despite having sober slip-ups here and there.
