Amy Dowden has landed a new TV role - working on ITV daytime hit show Lorraine.

The Strictly Come Dancing pro, 33, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer last May. But in her latest checkup last week she revealed that there was "no evidence of disease". She will appear on Lorraine on Tuesday morning to announce her new TV job alongside Lorraine Kelly.

Amy said: “I’m delighted to join the Lorraine family and can’t wait to be part of the brilliant team of presenters on the show. It’s been a tough year but this is something I’m so excited about and can’t wait to get started."

Lorraine told the Mirror: “We’re thrilled to have Amy join the Lorraine family. We always love it when Amy is on the show, and know our viewers do too, so we can’t wait to see more of her. She’s had an incredibly tough year and overcome it with such grace, I’m so excited to welcome her to the show.”

ITV insiders say Amy will be doing "behind the scene videos, celebrity interviews and on set interviews" as part of the show's extended 'family'. The source added: "Amy is over the moon to land the job and Lorraine is delighted to get her involved in the show. They have become friends and love the idea of working together.

"It's an exciting new project for Amy and her fans will love watching her on Lorraine." Lorraine recently laid on a second honeymoon for Amy after she admitted her first one was ruined because she found a lump on her breast and it "overshadowed the whole honeymoon".

She sent videos back from their second trip which was to Grenada with husband Ben and at the time spoke of being grateful to Lorraine, saying: “It’s the first time I have gone away. And what with the blood clots and wearing a bikini for the first time and everything. But, these are all steps that I need to take.”

A third video from the honeymoon will also be shown on Lorraine tomorrow. Last week Amy gave the clearest sign yet she could make a full return to Strictly this year saying "Dance floor I'm coming for you." Amy, who joined Strictly in 2017, also told fans on Instagram : "No evidence of disease - words I've dreamed of."

Describing the news from doctors as her "biggest accomplishment yet", she added: "I won't be getting the all clear for five years - especially with a hormone-fed cancer - but it was all worth it." The star, who had a mastectomy in June 2023, said that the gruelling months of treatment had "certainly took its toll" on her body "both physically and mentally". But she is aiming to bounce back by participating fully on Strictly this year.

Lorraine is on weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
