EastEnders star Navin Chowdhry, who plays nasty Nish Panesar, worries that his character might make him unpopular in real life.

The BBC soap star has revealed he doesn't want fans to confuse him with the not-so-nice character he plays in the soap. Navin shared his concerns, saying: "There have been moments when we've had scenes and I'll speak to the producer and I'll say, 'I'm going to have to go on the school run and you're making me beat up every woman on Albert Square'. I've been scared."

EastEnders fans were hoping Nish would get his comeuppance at Christmas and was one of the suspects for the festive murder victim – which ended up being Keanu Taylor. Denise Fox attacked Nish after he lunged at his estranged wife Suki, but the latter fought to save him.

Suki was successful in saving her husband only to discover Linda Carter had subsequently murdered Keanu in an effort to save Sharon Watts. Nish star Navin revealed he's "aware that everyone wanted him to die at Christmas. I apologise to the audience that I'm still around!"

Navin added to the Daily Star: "I enjoy being evil. And we have a good time on set. They often say the best fun you have is when you're doing the darkest stuff. Sometimes when you go really dark, the flipside is you have a very fun experience on set."

Nish turned up in Walford after being released from prison in September 2022 and quickly became one of Walford's most hated villains. In upcoming scenes, concerns for Kat Slater's safety will continue to grow as she realises Nish was using her.

The couple struck up a romance following the fallout of their marriages and bonded over Suki and Phil Mitchell's infidelity. Nish rekindled his brief romance with Kat after she humiliated him when he realised he could manipulate their affair to his advantage.

The dodgy businessman attempts to get control of Phil and Kat's businesses this week by introducing his new woman to his divorce lawyer. Kat soon realises Nish's plan and begins to plot against him in retaliation.

EastEnders fans will know Nish is not to be trusted or underestimated after plotting to have Eve Unwin killed for having an affair with his wife. Kat may believe she's savvy enough to take on Nish, but the Walford villain may turn violent when he realises she's foiled his plan.

One concerned fan tweeted: "Anyone else genuinely getting more & more scared for Kat's actual safety? Eve, Suki, Stacey, L, the man clearly gets off on terrorising women. Then there's the fact he's also gone for his own kids not just once. What about Kheerat? He'd be free by now if not for Nish #EastEnders." Another added: "Nish is set to attack Kat next week when his divorce idea backfires. Protect her at all costs! Hopefully this will now be the massive wake up call that Kat needs after all the warnings she's had against him being a bad man etc. #EastEnders."
