Dancing On Ice's Ryan Thomas shares tough toll of being away from family
Ryan Thomas has made no secret of that fact that he has been finding it hard being away from his family while he competes on Dancing On Ice.
But it seems as though the show is really starting to take its toll as the 39 year old star shared with fans that he "can't wait" to be back at home with his family. And he praised his partner Lucy Mecklenburgh, who he has two young children with, for standing by his side while he pursues other ventures away from soaps. Taking to Instagram, Ryan penned: "Can’t wait to be back home with my family. I’m always complaining how hard @dancingonice is, but nothing is harder than looking after two young children on your own."
He added: "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this, never complaining, constantly reassuring & supporting me. I’ve never taken for granted how lucky I am to have the perfect mother/partner. A family Holiday will be at the top of my to do list when I’m finished here!…but until then I’ll be skating to' Club Tropicana ' in tonight’s live show, wishing we were having that piña colada by the pool. He finished his post saying: "love you angel @lucymeck1 ."
During one of Ryan's early performances on the ITV show, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, he said he nearly broke down in tears when he spotted his son in the audience, dressed in the same costume as him as Willy Wonka.
During his interview on Lorraine, Ryan confessed: "Lorraine, honestly, I had not seen my kids for a week and I came out, I saw my son dressed as Wonka, I started welling up." He added: "They went 'Five, four, three... get behind the gate, you're going' and I was trying to hold back the tears at the same time." Talking about his son, Roman, three, dressing up in costume, he warmly recalled: "He's brilliant. I said to him, 'I'm playing Wonka this week' [and he said] 'But daddy, I want to play Wonka!' and I said: 'Okay!'"
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourThis comes after Ryan posted a candid message on social media. Alongside a picture of his eldest daughter Scarlett, who he shares with ex Tina O'Brien and his son, he wrote: "I knew something wasn’t right with me yesterday, I’ve put far too much pressure on myself to be the best I can, when really I should just be out there enjoying myself."
He added: ""Opening the show, seeing my family in the audience for the first time in a week, made my eyes water & my knees go to jelly! It’s a lot! Todays a new day, new routine it’s time to put it all behind me move on…easier said than done but I'm really going to try! Not forgetting a massive congratulations to all my fellow celebs & pros, last night you truly blew me away with your performances. It’s very cliché but honestly they are the nicest bunch of people & so supportive!"
He then continued: "And lastly thank you to everyone that votes, sends messages. I read & think how lucky I am to be liked by people I’ve never even met before, there’s a lot to be said for just people being kind, it really makes a difference. Love you all so much."
