A woman has gone viral for sharing the secret behind her homemade, all natural night cream - which she claims is even better than expensive brands, including Charlotte Tilbury.

Content creator Kate regularly shares her chemical-free remedies with her followers online. And people are going wild for her recent video showing how to make a saffron infused night cream, with the influencer claiming that the spice helps brighten skin and banish blemishes.

Saffron is an anti-inflammatory and has antioxidants. And one of its key components is crocin, which helps to stop hyperpigmentation.

So how do you make the cream? Kate - who goes by @yourmategingerkate on TikTok - shared her recipe on TikTok describing it as "one of the best creations I have ever made".

Simply take a pinch of saffron and place into a small glass jar with a lid. Then add two tablespoons of aloe vera gel, one teaspoon of sweet almond oil, a few drops of Vitamin E oil and one tablespoon of rose water. Mix well with a spoon - and voila!

The results are clear to see - and what's more, you can recreate the cream yourself for just less than £15, considerably less than brand competitors.

Amazon is selling saffron for £3.25, 15mls of Vitamin E oil for £2.99 , aloe vera gel for £3.45 and sweet almond oil for £3.99. You can pick up rose water at Ocado, meanwhile, for just £1 .

Since the cream is made of fresh ingredients, it's important to keep it refrigerated and make a fresh batch regularly.

More and more people are turning to homemade skincare products, and there are a number of recipes to try. A huge number of people swear by this face mask - and you'll already own most of the ingredients.

Here's what you'll need

Add ingredients to a Nutribullet or a blender, seal blade tightly and blitz for 30 seconds to create a thick, green paste. Chill for a couple of hours to allow the face mask to set before using.

Alternatively you could try this peppermint, rosemary and lavender body butter cream:

Ingredients

  • 50g (half a cup) raw shea butter

  • 35g (a quarter cup) coconut oil

  • 75ml (a quarter cup) almond oil

  • 6 drops Rosemary essential oil

  • 4 drops Peppermint essential oil

  • 5 drops Lavender essential oil

Melt shea butter and coconut oil in glass bowl over a pot of simmering water until fully liquidised. Remove from heat and leave to cool for 30 minutes.

Add almond oil and essential oils and stir until well mixed. Place bowl in freezer for approximately 20 – 30 minutes until mixture just starts to solidify.

Remove from freezer and whip until soft peaks start to form.
