Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is back for its final series after 20 years.

The hit show will make a comeback tonight (Saturday 24 February) for its 20th series with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly at the helm. Despite its huge popularity, the ITV programme will be taking an extended break following this run. As always, there will be high octane challenges, hilarious hidden camera set ups, new studio games and live surprises.

There will be a live launch later tonight for the show at 7pm, with a whole host of celebrity guests. The Office creator Stephen Merchant will be the guest announcer for the night and the brand new little Ant and Dec will also be revealed. Singer Becky Hill and Urban Theory will end the show in style with the End of the Show Show. While the X Factor and Britain's Got Talent star Simon Cowell will be the special guest as he takes part in the hilarious 'Undercover' segment.

The Geordie duo have targeted the music mogul for a second time. In the show, Dec recalls: "We are ending the Undercovers where we started… with Simon Cowell! Our first ever Undercover was on Simon in LA when he was a judge on American Idol. So we've gone back and got Simon Cowell again. We went out to LA and gave him the day from hell whilst he was judging on America's Got Talent."

Ant has teased the second hit is even better than the first. The I'm A Celebrity co-host said: "It was even sweeter getting him the second time round because we also got him during his downtime as he’s riding his bike around Malibu - it’s very, very funny."

Ant and Dec announced their plans to "rest" the Bafta-winning show after this series. Taking to Instagram last year, Ant revealed: "We've got some news for you. Next year, in 2024, it will be our 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway. And we've got some very special look-backs planned as well as some very exciting new items." Dec continued: "And we've also decided that our 20th series will be our last one for a little while.

"The show takes up so much of a year we just feel like we need a little bit of a breather and the show is going to take a little bit of a rest. But before that we've got the 20th series to plan," Ant remarked as Dec interjected: "And we're looking forward to it."

Morning chat show host Lorraine teased she will be making an appearance on the live programme during its series. Speaking of her appearance on ITV's Lorraine, she said: "They got me as well, that will be in a couple weeks time and it was hilarious, hilarious." Ant and Dec were spotted earlier this month filming with Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden.

Dec was joined by the Britain's Got Talent judges and Craig David for filming as they pranked members of the public that came in for an interview. The hit show previously took a break in 2009 before returning four years later in 2013.
