Gary O'Neil has been prepping for Sheffield United’s visit - by binge-watching Manchester City.

Wolves ’ boss says he is keen to learn the tricks of the trade from the best in the business as he looks to maintain his club’s upwards push.

O’Neil pulled off a double coup by beating both Chelsea and Spurs on their own patch and only a last-gasp Kobbie Mainoo wonder strike denied them a draw at home to in-form Manchester United. But O’Neil says the Blades will provide them with a different test and he’s been making plans.

He said: “Chris has been well-known for the formation he uses, he’s done it at Sheffield Utd and Middlesbrough but you prep in case they do something slightly different. Our work this week has been slightly different because it’s a game where you would expect us to have more of the ball.

“So, there’s a lot of focus on what we’re trying to do.

“I watched Manchester City against Brentford in midweek and you saw how hard it was for them against a side that is difficult to break down. The importance of City not conceding a goal from a set-play or a counter-attack to remain in a position where they can push to find the winning goal which is exactly what happened.

“I always watch Manchester City. Always. It doesn’t mean be Manchester City. But they face low blocks all the time and you watch to see how they deal with that, given they have such incredible players.

“I don’t just watch them. But when you speak about a low block, they face it the most. It’s not guaranteed we will. Sheffield United have been aggressive at home and away in some games.

“I watch teams that are good at everything. I’m trying to improve my knowledge. I am a fan of what they do because Pep has been at the top of the manager’s list for a long time now. He’s an exceptional talent.

“I love the way they control games. It’s just me, trying to improve what I know and learn.”
