Ex-Bayern Munich boss makes Jurgen Klopp claim amid Xabi Alonso uncertainty
Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has argued the Bundesliga giants don't give managers enough time, drawing comparisons with the patience Liverpool have shown with Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp, who will leave Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, had been in his post for nearly half a decade before winning his first Premier League title. Nagelsmann, in contrast, lasted less than two seasons at Bayern despite winning the Bundesliga in his first campaign.
One of the candidates to replace Klopp is also a target for Bayern. Xabi Alonso is working wonders at Bayer Leverkusen, taking his team 11 points clear of Bayern at the top of the table thanks to a victory over Mainz on Friday night.
Bayern's reported pursuit of Alonso comes amid another change in the dugout, with Thomas Tuchel set to leave at the end of the current season. Tuchel is the sixth boss (excluding short-lived caretaker Willy Sagnol) to take charge at the Allianz Arena since Pep Guardiola - the man in charge in Bavaria when Klopp was appointed by Liverpool - left in 2016.
“I was appointed at Bayern with the aim of changing things," Nagelsmann told Der Spiegel (via Get German Football News). "There are clubs that give you the time.

"Jurgen Klopp was at Liverpool FC for five years until he became champion there for the first time. Pep Guardiola only won the Champions League title with Manchester City after seven years. The coaches at Bayern Munich don’t get that much time to develop something.”
Nagelsmann was dismissed midway through the 2022-23 season, with Bayern at risk of missing out on the title but boasting a perfect record in the Champions League. Tuchel secured the title on the final day of the season when rivals Borussia Dortmund slipped up, but his European run ended at the hands of Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

The Spaniard, who turned out for both Liverpool and Bayern during his playing career, is said to have doubts over a move to Bavaria but may yet stay with Leverkusen rather than immediately moving to Anfield.
Leverkusen took an early lead against Mainz on Friday as they looked to move further clear at the top, only for Granit Xhaka's opener to swiftly be cancelled out by Dominik Kohr. Alonso's team retook the lead in the second half when visiting keeper Robin Zentner spilt a Robert Andrich effort over his own line, while the visitors later had Jessic Ngankam sent off.
"It was really intense game, they came with a good energy, it was very demanding," Alonso told reporters after the victory. "Second half we were controlling more but it wasn’t spectacular. The 3 points are great after knowing it wasn’t our best game. We move on and enjoy the victory over the weekend."
