Stacey Solomon's household essentials can remove pesky stains

Stacey Solomon has revealed a nifty trick for removing stubborn pen stains effortlessly in her new series of Sort Your Life Out on BBC One.

Ink-stained furniture is a parents worst nightmare, but the TV icon and her trusty team have shared two household essentials that can banish the marks in seconds. The latest series kicked-off in Redhill, Surrey, where Stacey and her ensemble helped a single dad transform his home.

Father-of-two Craig had lost his wife Lois to cancer and struggled to keep on top of everyday tasks. Stacey explained: "Craig has got two daughters, who are six and four, they have lived in the house for just over six years, but over the last couple of years the clutter has just taken over and he’s really struggling to find his way out. So that’s why we’re here."

Once the team got to work, cleaning expert Iwan Carrington was assigned the task of removing pen stains that had been left on the carpet and the door. "The children have done a very good job of colouring in the stairs here," he quipped.

He then pulled out "cheap" shaving foam to target the creative marks. Iwan said: "This works really well even with a permanent pen, I just lather it on so the shaving foam can start to work its magic."

To avoid damaging the carpet, test the product in the corner of the room on a small area before use. After leaving the foam on to soak for 10-minutes, Iwan completely rinsed away the stains with a wet cloth and a little bit of elbow grease.

"There you go, no one would ever know these stairs had been drawn on," he added. Make sure to use a damp cloth to wipe off the excess shaving foam.

The lifestyle guru then addressed the artwork that had littered the door. He explained: "I think this might be a permanent marker pen and what works really well for that is a little bit of hairspray."

To remove the ink, Iwan simply sprayed the product onto the door and quickly wiped it away using a cloth. "This works really well with a biro pen too," he added.

Shoppers can bag shaving foam for 95p from Tesco, while hairspray can be picked up for £1 from Poundland. Responding to the emotional episode, one X user penned: "Just such a beautiful episode. the family absolutely deserved this and you can clearly see that Stacey and the team have completely changed their lives."

While another gushed: "What an amazing episode. Such a beautiful family with two brave little girls. If you don't love @StaceySolomon and the team after that there is something wrong with you."
