Amy Dowden has opened up on her health following her recent hospital dash as she receives treatment for breast cancer.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional, 33, was rushed to hospital last week as her family stayed by her side during the tough time. She received care on the respiratory unit and her husband Ben "spent hours next to [her] bed" while she slept. Amy took to her Instagram following her hospital stay, revealing she was "feeling much better now".

She later shared another update as she enjoyed taking a mini-break. Amy looked stunning in the pictures shared on her social media as she sipped on cocktails, relaxing in a hot tub and admired the view from her luxury lodge. Alongside the series of snaps, Amy wrote: "What a difference a week makes! Thanks to @llcollectionuk @milkwoodhouseatdylancoastalrst for such a great few days.

"The perfect mix of work, relaxation and good food with my beautiful @_thegoodnessguide. Just what the Dr ordered. SO GOOD TO BACK ( was here for Christmas!)." Amy's dad Richard commented: "So happy seeing you look so well after last week. These photos remind me of the fabulous Christmas we all had there."

One fan commented: "You look glowing xx." Another added: "Lovely you look great that smile wonderful." Someone else commented: "You look absolutely gorgeous, so so glad you had such a lovely time." Taking to social media earlier in the week, Amy shared a photo of herself in a hospital gown.

She wrote: "So last week didn't exactly go to plan! Feeling much better now and still taking it easy. But can't thank the nhs and the care I received on respiratory unit enough! Also to my family and Ben of course. Always dropping everything and spending endless hours next to my bed whilst I mainly slept. Feeling much better and thanks for the many messages after going quiet! Off to the oncology unit today for my monthly injection (missed it last week with being poorly). How is everyone? The sun is shining and I certainly can't wait for spring."

Lorraine Kelly shared an update on Amy during her ITV morning show. Amy had documented her travels with husband Ben during their second honeymoon. After the clip aired, Lorraine said: "You may have seen Amy was in hospital last week but just to reassure you, she says she's very much on the mend and of course we're sending our love to her. She joins us next Tuesday right here in the studio and she has got some big news for us all..."

Amy was recently forced to remind people to be mindful when commenting on her health. Speaking on her Instagram, she said: "Someone messaged me asking 'why you wearing makeup in your picture in hospital?' Obviously I didn't plan to go in hospital - I was actually at work doing a shoot and had my makeup done! I never planned to go in and that's why I share these things, to hopefully try and normalise it and so other people who are going through it can perhaps relate."

The professional dancer explained: "I get so many lovely messages but then I also get nasty ones and comments. Can I just say for anyone going through this, it's enough to be going through it, never mind with any added trolls. There is no textbook on how to deal with it or how I deal with it - there is no right or wrong. You do what you need to do - be kind guys! On this Monday, if we can be anything, be kind. Treat people how you would like to be treated."
