The Apprentice's Jack Davies was convinced he wouldn't become the latest fired candidate, having been axed with fellow candidate Amina Khan.

Jack, a recruitment director from Bristol, put himself forward as project manager in a move that cost him dearly as his team failed to negotiate well on a series of items that Lord Sugar had asked the two teams to find. Fans of The Apprentice will know the negotiating task is infamous and well known for creating hilarious situations as the candidates scramble to find nine items that they may never have heard of before.

Reflecting on his time on the show, Jack told Mirror that he ignored the one piece advice his father gave him ahead of the week four task. He said: "There's always a risk going in to be project manager and even sub PM to be honest, because they're the two areas you look at if you lose the task.

"In terms of that task in particular, where anyone in the team could have been fired, I think no one performed well and that's why he brought everyone back into the ballroom because no one negotiated well, and we lost the task by quite a lot. Anyone could have gone but in that scenario, it then automatically goes back to the PM and probably the sub PM for Lord Sugar to ask, ‘What's the underlying issues here? Why did they lose?’

"Some of the strategy could have been better, but at the end of the day, we didn't negotiate as well as the other team. And that's why we lost the task. If we all negotiated better individually, we would have won.

"The one bit of advice my dad gave to me before the show, ‘Whatever you do Jack, don’t be the PM for a buying or selling task because it’s a lottery.’ I went against him and didn’t take his advice – it definitely cost me."

Jack, who is now launching his own recruitment company, went on to reveal that both he and his co-stars were shocked to see him be fired by Lord Sugar as he admitted he was "too relaxed" in the boardroom because he had performed well in previous tasks. He continued: "As a project manager, you've got to take some level of responsibility. We lost the task, I was PM so you've got to look at me and be like, ‘What went wrong?’

"But, personally, I think I performed really well, I negotiated really well. I was the only one on the team to negotiate better than my counterpart, the other team. And I think I led the team well in terms of having a really clear sales tactic and also instructing the subteam go to one area and my team going go to different areas. Overall, I think I performed really but Lord Sugar decided I needed to go because we lost the task so I had to take it on the chin."
