Josie Gibson was left in tears during a heartbreaking guest caller segment on This Morning.

The TV presenter was fronting the ITV show with her co-host Dermot O'Leary, where they were joined by Strictly Come Dancing star Annabel Croft and the show's residence agony aunt Deirdre Sanders to talk about grief. One of the people that called in was a grieving mum who lost her 19-year-old daughter, and Josie found it hard to hold back her tears as she listened to the caller.

Annabel, who lost her husband to cancer last year, shared her own experiences with grief. But when Shelley, a mum who lost her teenage daughter to illness, called in, Josie couldn't help but cry. As a mum herself, Josie was deeply moved by Shelley's story.

"I'm just so heartbroken, every day is so hard," Shelley told the show. "She was so brave and amazing throughout the two years of her illness. I go into her room and just say good morning and good night to her every night I just don't know how to deal with this."

Elsewhere in the chat, Annabel opened up about her own grief following her husband Mel Coleman's death. Speaking to one caller who lost her husband, she shared: "Joan, I'm so sorry for your loss and I can feel your pain and I'm going through the same thing as you, but you're even more recent. And if it's any consolation, I have not picked up my husband's ashes yet and I'm, what, eight or nine months in. It was just the finality of knowing that my husband, who was such a vibrant person and character with such a great sense of humour, was suddenly going to be in this urn or box - and I just couldn't do it."

Josie was back on the show this week amid fan fears that she had left the This Morning family. Before it was revealed that Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard would be the new main hosts, Josie assured her fans that she would remain on the show as a guest presenter like she always had been. She shared: "Just to confirm, I have not left This Morning. I keep getting asked why I've left, so I thought it's easier to clear up the rumour mill on here. I am eternally grateful for all your love and support and I can not thank you enough."
