My Mum, Your Dad sweethearts Roger Hawes and Janey Smith have teased that they are planning to get married - five months after meeting on the hit ITV show.

Roger, 58, and Janey, 47, won the approval of their children Jess Hawes-Brown, 28, and William Lancaster, 19, as they fell for each other in the country house retreat where the show filmed. Widower Roger and single mum Janey were fan favourites of the show - which was affectionately referred to by viewers as ‘Love Island for middle aged people’.

The couple have been keeping fans updated on their blossoming romance via their social media feeds. But on Wednesday, a hint about marriage was aired on national TV as the couple appeared on ITV’s daytime show This Morning.

Roger and Janey had been flown to Barbados by the show to whip up cocktails, which they showed how to make. Shaking together a drink, Janey was then asked to christen the cocktail with a name.

Jumping at the challenge, Janey declared: “Barbados Babe! Because she’s curvy, she’s fresh, a bit zesty and doesn’t have to prove herself. That is a Barbados Babe.” Roger was more than happy to cheers the drink and gave a nod of approval to the name and concoction.

Voice over by Alison Hammond then played out as the pair enjoyed a glass each. She declared: “A few more Barbados Babes and who knows where and who knows where the evening will take them.”

As the cameras caught Roger and Janey enjoying a romantic kiss, Alison quipped: “Do they do weddings?” As the cameras cut back to the studio, show host Demot O’Leary then declared: “They’re living their best lives, those two!”

Dermot and co-host Josie Gibson also asked the My Mum, Your Dad stars if they had secretly gotten married on the Caribbean island, and they giggled: “Not yet!” Roger and Janey appeared on This Morning last week too - where they opened up about the continuing success of their relationship.

Explaining his surprise at finding love again after the death of his wife, Roger said: “I never expected it, even now I look at Janey and realise how lucky I am.” And Janey revealed they are often being asked when they will tie-the-knot. She said: “There is a bit of pressure definitely, people watch a lot!”

The pair are yet to move in together - as Roger lives in Derbyshire and Janey is in West Sussex. However, the pair explained that they spend a lot of time together, saying: “the travelling is a lot, you do what you've got to do.” Last year, ITV announced My Mum, Your Dad will return for a second season - which is expected to air within the first half of 2024.

Richard Cowles, Managing Director of Lifted Entertainment, said: “The heartfelt reaction to this show was incredible and we are absolutely delighted that ITV are bringing it back for another series. There was real joy in watching the amazing relationships between the grown-up kids and their parents; they cried as their parents' vulnerabilities showed and cringed as new connections and dates played out. My Mum, Your Dad has heart, warmth and laughs in every show and that really resonated with viewers. With casting now open, we can't wait to find a new bunch of single parents looking for love."
