Sometimes, when you have a kid, it feels impossible to keep yourself out of the gossiping, endless WhatsApp groups, and uncomfortable small talk.

But one mum has shared that she "purposefully" makes herself late for the school run so she can avoid all of the above because she doesn't want to be involved in the drama that comes with the school gates and the "gossipy mums" that often stand around.

Kara, who posts on TikTok as @lifeofmrsabstract, admitted that 'school-run mums stress her out', and she doesn't want to be a part of the whispers around the playground, and would rather avoid it at all costs.

"I can't be bothered with it", Kara shared, saying she wanted to be left alone. She said she gets there early to park for her kids but will stay in her car while other mums "pile outside the gate talking". She said she prefers to purposefully go in "two or three minutes late" to pick up her child, so she can avoid the chit-chat.

Kara said sometimes she'll give other parents "little smiles", sharing there are "two mums on the school run I'll say hello to", admitting that she "actually likes them". But she doesn't have time for the rest of them.

In the comments, other mums praised Kara for her honesty, saying it was refreshing to hear someone say out loud what they're thinking. One said: "They are a different breed of mums", and another recommended she: "Say alright and keep it moving" instead of standing around for a chat.

Others were concerned for the mum that she may come across as "stuck up", sharing that the other mums may actually be nice, but Kara responded by saying: "The people I avoid are not the type of people I would want to know. They stand there gossiping and putting down teachers." Another mum joked: "I just keep my AirPods in, sorry I'm on a teams meeting."
