A mystery ticket holder has bagged £10k a month for one year on the Set For Life draw - but is yet to claim their prize.

The National Lottery is urging players to check their tickets following the draw which took place earlier this month on February 5. Anyone who lives, works or recently visited Manchester has been told to double-check their numbers.

It comes after the lottery announced the five matched main numbers as 3, 4, 8, 10, 28 and the Life Ball was 1. The lucky punter has until August 3 to claim the fortune. If the player has lost their ticket but believes they are the winner, there is still time to make a claim in writing to Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery. However, this must be done within 30 days of the draw.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners Advisor at The National Lottery said, “If you bought a Set For Life ticket in Manchester for the draw on 5 February, it’s time to look everywhere - in the pockets of clothes you might have been wearing at the time, bags, in the car, wallets and purses and in that sideboard or drawer where we all tend to put bits and pieces - and check your tickets.

“Do you live or work in Manchester, do you have family and friends there who you were visiting or were you just passing through? We’re desperate to find this mystery ticket holder and pay out their life-changing prize - imagine the possibilities for them for the next year! We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win.”

In case, the player has forgotten where they were that day, the lottery has shared that both of Manchester’s Premier League giants were in action around the time of the draw. Manchester United scored a 3-0 home win against West Ham United the day before the draw. Manchester City travelled to Brentford and returned with all three points after a 3-1 win on February 5.

Last year, a "laid back" couple spent four weeks ignoring emails from the National Lottery stating that they had won a huge prize on the Set for Life draw. James Briggs, 42, and his wife Sally, 40, from Walsall, left the messages from Camelot unopened for an entire month after the winning numbers were drawn.

However, after they received a fourth email, James gave in and decided to contact them back by phoning them. To his surprise, he discovered that he would be given £10,000 a month for the next year. James said at the time: "I received an email about the draw on August 3 but ignored it as there was so much going on. I was busy with work, then we had a holiday to Berlin to celebrate Sally’s birthday… it was only after seeing the fourth email when we got back from holiday that I actually got around to reading it.”

The National Lottery states that punters can purchase and check their tickets online via the National Lottery app or on the website. However, this can also be done in-store. If no one steps forward to claim their prize by the deadline, then the life-changing sum will support projects funded by the National Lottery instead. Ticket holders have a total of 180 days to make the deadline. Players have been told to phone the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or [email protected].
