This is the moment a bungling helicopter pilot crushes eight people while trying to scatter sweets at a party for children.

The accident caused the roof of some marquee tents to collapse onto a crowd in the Tha Chang municipality in the Muang district in Thailand.

The Thai navy helicopter was flying low to scatter flowers and sweets for kids celebrating a National Children's Day event.

However, as the helicopter flew over the crowd, it sent powerful downdrafts that caused the outdoor tents to flatten and collapse on people attending the event.

A video filmed at the scene of the incident shows people screaming and running as the roof collapses.
