Winner Danny Jones says the fear of slipping up and revealing your identity on The Masked Singer makes the show more like Squid Game.

After beating Cricket and Bigfoot, it was Piranha crowned who took the glory this weekend, before being unmasked as McFly star Danny, 37. He joined Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle on the This Morning sofa and spoke about the military operation of keeping things quiet.

The singer, who was on tour with the group straight after the programme was filmed in October, says even his family didn't know - and posted an adorable video of his young son Cooper watching along on Saturday night before the truth was revealed and his cute reaction melted hearts.

But Danny says it was very hard work and told the presenters how difficult it was protecting the secrets on and off set. He said: "I left the house every day with a visor on, and a balaclava. I thought 'if any neighbours see me now, this is proper dodgy'. I liked playing the game though. Everyone is covered all the day, you don't speak to anyone.

"It's proper strict. It's like Squid Games. You can't do anything, it's just so strict. I was trying to guess the others, but I didn't get one right. We are kept totally separate. It's an amazing job they do on the show to keep it all quiet." He went on to explain how he helped cope with the heat inside the costume, saying: "I had to train with a weighted vest on. It was so so hot inside there."

The hit ITV series launched earlier this year and Saturday night's final saw Cricket,Bigfoot and Piranha take to the stage in a bid to impress the judges -Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and guest Rob Brydon - one last time. Upon winning, Danny said: "I’ve had the most amazing time, I can escape behind here and just be Piranha and sing these songs.

"I’ve learnt so much, I’m able to sing higher now just from being on this show. I am so happy, thank you!" He continued: "It feels surreal. Everything about this show and everything about what I've just done is completely surreal! I have become a Piranha, and no longer Danny Jones!", added on keeping it a secret: "Very hard and even more so now I’ve won.

"It's been really difficult because I get excited by stuff very easily and I'm all in when I do something. I'm meant to be on tour. It's been very difficult, but that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?" Talking about his McFly bandmates' reaction when finding out, he joked: "I think that the boys [in McFy] will be very surprised. I am my own worst enemy, so I'm always like, 'That wasn’t very good', so they always build me up. They’ll guess me straight away."
