Alison Hammond's heartbreaking remark after brutal BAFTAs snub
TV presenter Alison Hammond has missed out on the red carpet glam after being snubbed of her BAFTAs role.
The 49-year-old This Morning star was at the helm of the awards ceremony last year, welcoming stars from the world of film to the stage alongside co-host Richard E Grant. Alison once again won the hearts of the nation with her hosting style, as she presented the show from the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Some fans heaped praise on the TV star throughout the evening as some said she was a 'joy to watch.' Although it was believed that Alison would return to host the show this month, it was reported back in January that she was cut from the line-up and had been replaced by Doctor Who legend David Tennant. According to an insider, Alison was left "gutted by the news," which had opened her eyes to "how cut-throat the TV world can be."
"Alison had really hoped that she could do the BAFTAs for another year and even become a main host," a source told Closer Magazine. "She’s gutted not to be asked back – especially as she has built up such a great rapport with all the A-listers in Hollywood who seem to love her too.

Last year, Alison couldn't contain her excitement after landing the huge hosting role. She said: "I’m so excited to be hosting this year’s EE Bafta Film Awards with THE Richard E Grant. We’re going to have a lot of fun bringing the glitz and glam of backstage to everyone watching at home around the world. From hanging out with the stars to celebrating the biggest night for cinema, and joining the discussions with film fans, get ready for good vibes only."
Now, The BAFTAs is fronted by Doctor Who star David Tennant, who has appeared in TV series including Broadchurch and Good Omens. He has expressed his joy over hosting the prestigious show saying: "I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE Bafta Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year's films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life."
Jane Millichip, the chief executive of Bafta, said the organisation was "over the moon" he said yes and added: "He is deservedly beloved by British and international audiences alike. His warmth, charm, and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show." A total of 38 films have received nominations and some huge stars including Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy are in the running to scoop a gong on Sunday.
